About this Cook
I grew up in a household full of incredible cooks. I guess it is in the blood..lol. grandfather owned a restaurant, I want my own restaurant one day and my father, aunt and uncle, mom, grandmother and cousin are all great cooks. I wanted to be a chef growing up, lived in my grandmothers kitchen but we lived to far away from a culinary school, so I settle for cooking for work events and friends and family. Cooking is a wonderful way to express yourself and I find it to be a great joy and relaxing.
My favorite things to cook
Italian, greek and appetizers. I love to bake and absolutely LOVE the holiday cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort foods and passing on some of our family recipes to friends. Cooking with the whole family in the kitchen. It seems like a well oiled machine when everyone is in sync. Making old Norweign christmas "waffle cookies" with my grandmother/mother/sister/aunt/cousin...we break more than we end up making - which frustrates my grandmother..lol..but we do it so we can eat them..I think she is on to us by now...
My cooking triumphs
Coming up with an incredible hot crab dip recipe that I guard over. LOL I tell inlaws, it took me 8 years of trial and error to get this recipe, I am not giving it away..stingy I know, but I figure if I ever get my catering business, this will be one of my best dishes. Finally getting my great-grandmothers "SECRET" BBQ receipe. My grandmother literally guarded this receipe from all of us. No one was allowed near the kitchen when she made it. I am 40 and she finally gave the cooks in the family the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
My first cheesecake was a disaster. But, now my family LOVES my cheesecake. Again, it comes from trial and error and lots of advice you can find on this site to make it work.

Hot Sausage Dip
Just what I was looking for. Quick to make and oh my gosh..I could have eaten the whole pot by myself. I added 1 extra container of cream cheese and only 1/2 the sour cream called for. I also added just a small bit of garlic and ground red pepper to the mix as it cooked!! This is going to be my go to for hot dip now! I left out the onion, cause I didn't happen to have any in the kitchen. It is now a Football Sunday must have for my husband!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad
I have been making the same type of potato salad for years, one that has always been a huge success! My stepdaughters love the type their mom and grandma made, but I never was a huge fan of sweet relish in potato salad or mustard. But for a cookout I decided to make my normal salad and try my hand at the one they would be more familar with. I found this and made it as the recipe stated - I made no changes. Let's just say the whole family loved it. Now everyone wants me to make my tried and true potato salad and this one too! Thanks for helping me provide an alternative for all tastes in my family!
