I am married and we have one son, who is turning one in April 2011. I absolutely love to bake and cook, it is a passion of mine. I am earning a degree in business, so that maybe one day I can open a Deli/Bakery.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook everything. I also love to bake, but since I cant always have a lot of what I bake I think I like cooking a bit more. I try a new thing for dinner every night, unless my husband makes a request for one of his favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make holiday treats for every holiday. I absolutely have to! Even if its the 4th of July. Also, every Christmas dinner my mom makes everything and I make the mashed potatoes and deviled eggs. When I get there she has everything laid out for me ready to go.
My cooking triumphs
I am always making recipes my own. Removing this, or adding that. I love when I try something that I am afraid to try, and it turns out perfectly.
My cooking tragedies
Using a cheap cookie sheet. Bad idea, invest in your bake wear people. Also, don't make up recipes in your head for the first time, write them out. I made up a pasta dish in my head and it was very dry and horrible. I am so hard on myself that everything something doesn't turn out perfectly I get very upset with myself!

Mock Lemon Chiffon Cake
These was really light, refreshing, and tasty. I used a lemon cake, with vanilla pudding and used mayo in place of oil like suggested. I mixed the lemon pudding with the whipped topping and put it in the fridge for an hour before frosting. It was a great cake, and got many compliments. But I was hoping for it to be a little more moist. It was really moist, but I was kind of hoping with the mayo and pudding it was going to be almost as moist at a tres leches cake. I think I had too high of expectations. I MAY try applesauce in place of oil next time.
