The weather has been cooler in our part of Texas and I love cooking and baking once the weather isn't hot. I feel much more productive in the fall! One recipe I've tried since the break in the weather, Salted Caramel Nut Brittle, used Reynold's foil. I'm always hesitant to use foil to line a… MORE

Both my husband and I come from families with histories of heart health issues. It's important to us to live a heart healthy lifestyle. I enjoyed participating in the Heart Healthy Mazola® program. I made Pork Carnitas with Cilantro Tomatillo Sauce and we loved it! The pork is so tender… MORE

We definitely wanted to have our friends over to celebrate our new home, so we scheduled a housewarming! Of course, planning the menu was the most exciting… MORE

I tried a Pittsburgh salad for the first time! It was great with OreIda Golden Crinkles! You get your fried potatoes, cheese and dressing fix all in one! If you've not tried it, add French fries to your favorite salad the next time you make it. It was a delicious treat for a fall… MORE

In our home, we do not eat a lot of pasta. Getting out multiple pots. Cooking the sauce in one and the pasta in another. It's just more than we can manage on a weeknight with both of us working and an hour long commute. Enter Johnsonville One Pan Italian! I love the cooking technique of… MORE

We had our first experience with bison meat this past week. We received free bison bacon from the Bison Council. I made a risotto dish with bison bacon and asparagus! The risotto was so creamy and flavorful (make sure you add the liquid slowly and not all at once). It was smoky, salty and… MORE

We're not big beef eaters in our house, mostly because I'm not that great at cooking it! We recently discovered our local farmer's market and the rancher that provides local meat, including beef! We took the plunge and bought some ribeye to… MORE

We love Mexican food in our house. It's probably our favorite cuisine. Living in Texas, most of our Mexican food is Tex-Mex. The Texas-ized version of Mexican food. While I'm always up for some cheesy enchiladas and queso, it's nice to take a break and have something a little further south of… MORE

I made Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies on a whim one day! Boy was that kismet! A guy friend of ours loved them so much that he asked for the recipe! Now, you know a recipe is good when a single guy that doesn't cook wants to make them. He even bought a stand mixer to make them with.… MORE

About Me
I love to take simple recipes and give them an unexpected twist! I share my cooking experiments with my husband (and sometimes our two cats will sneak a bite)! We live in Dallas, TX and love to travel.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking, especially cupcakes. My current favorite things to make are punches, flavored popcorn and sheetcakes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's Thanksgiving stuffing. I enjoy making new traditions!
My cooking triumphs
Pool party food for 100 people!
My cooking tragedies
I baked a carrot cake for Easter 2010. The cream cheese frosting was too soft and the temperature outside was too warm, so the layers played slip and slide in my cake taker! It was edible, just not pretty!
