Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
The seasonings and heat level work well together in this recipe. We then add 1 to 1.5 pounds of cooked ground beef and 1/2 cup water to make the tastiest taco meat!

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I don't know what type of chops the OP intended (thin, thick, bone-in or not) but I used center cut rib chops, about 3/4 inch. I can't imagine cooking chops for an hour and even after 30 minutes or so they were tough and overcooked. The sauce was good although not something we raved about.

Creamy Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
This is a well-written recipe and was very good as-is. The second time around we did add garlic and substituted red pepper flakes for the pepper to give it a kick. We also loved red bell pepper and that worked well in the mix. Other than the pepper there was no seasoning so I added a general all-purpose seasoning. We like fajita or montreal chicken seasoning. Thanks for posting!

My family loved this recipe. The salmon is full of flavor and moist. We felt the flavors were well balanced. Thanks for sharing!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This is now one of our 'go-to' recipes for seafood and pasta. Make sure you reduce the sauce as instructed or it will come out a bit soupy. I make this with 1 tsp black pepper and it is plenty peppery for us. Thanks!

Authentic Kicked-Up Syrian Hummus

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Like other reviewers, very good, but a bit thick, and tart! Adding more oil and water fixed the thickness. And I don't know what Syrian-style means, but I'd put a bit less lemon juice in next time. Or maybe add a touch of sugar to offset the tartness. Thanks for sharing!

Grilled Asian Ginger Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
We only had 30 minutes to marinate and thought the flavors were good and balanced, but weak. I believe the key to this recipe is the long marinade time. Ginger is a favorite of ours and will add a bit more next time for a bolder taste. Thanks for sharing!

Super Bowl Salsa Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
As is, the recipe is mild. Like others said, consider using spicy whatever (sausage, salsa, jalapenos) or add taco seasoning to it. I halved the cheese and milk amounts and left everything else the same and it still was cheesy enough, and plenty! If you find the dip a bit thin, let it cook longer. Thanks for sharing!

Sunday Gumbo

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
This is one easy and tasty recipe as is! Thought the heat was just right. Everyone in the family (kids and hubby) ate it up - even the okra! I did add a bit of cornstarch to thicken it up though. GREAT recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I rate this 5 stars because of the taste, but had these observations: the recipe doesn't say if the sausage should be whole, sliced, ground, etc. I found that ground or sliced works well. 1/2 c oil is way more than I thought necessary so I reserved the pan drippings from the sausage and added about 2 T of olive oil to that, maybe 1/4 cup max combined. If you don't have cavatelli pasta, really any short pasta will do: penne, gnocchi, rotelli, etc. My family loved the flavors! A wonderful recipe and easy to make...thanks!

Sara's Soy Marinated and Cream Cheese-Stuffed Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
Great flavors! My salmon filets were not thick enough to stuff so I topped them with a large dollop of the cheese mixture and they turned out just as good. Tasty and robust with the mustard. I realized later I forgot to do the teriyaki and sesame seed basting at the end but we still enjoyed it a lot. Thanks!

Yummy Lemon Salmon Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
This recipe fixes a BIG problem I had with other salmon burger recipes...they always fell apart, especially when I would grill them. I think its the eggs and bread crumbs that do the trick! Nice recipe to build off personal favorites like adding cilantro or some seafood seasoning. Thanks for sharing...a definite keeper!

Bread Machine Focaccia

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
Even without a bread machine, this is a great tasting and easy recipe. If you want to substitute whole wheat flour like we did, it is very good -- just don't use ALL whole wheat. A good rule for most any recipe is to sub only half. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
I agree with a previous cook that 20-30 min was not enough for the glass loaf pan I used. It was at least 45 min and then the edges got overdone/crusty and the center sank too. I also found the taste to be ho-hum, like it was missing something. I don't think I'll try this again.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
These turned out absolutely perfect and yours will too, just follow the recipe as is! Although I'd love to have all butter, the half butter/half shortening combo can't be beat for soft cookies that hold their shape well. A keeper! Thanks for sharing.

Carrot Cake III

The neat thing about this recipe is its simplicity. It doesn't require a lot of ingredients to taste great. We entered this in a local bake off and won 2nd place!

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
My whole family loved this recipe! As noted in other reviews, be careful on the type and amount of cajun seasoning used - some are more potent than others. We love garlic so I added 3 cloves instead. Thanks for the great post!

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

The cheese sticks come out beautifully and the coating looks just like restaurant quality! We like a bit more kick and will experiment with adding spices to the mix. Otherwise, a great recipe!
