Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2012
Mmmm! This was a winner in my house. Everyone loved it - me, my hubby, my 18 month old and my picky 7 year old!! That almost never happens! I followed the recipe as written and the chicken came out crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and very flavorful...and super easy too. It was a nice change from my normal bread crumb/egg batter for chicken breast.

No-Bake Cheesy Skillet Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
This came out pretty good...but not great. First, this really shouldn't be called lasagna. It's more like a cheesy pasta. The sauce remained pretty thin, even though I cooked it a bit longer than it called for and let it sit for several minutes before serving. I only added about 1/4 of a bag of peppers and onions and saw that adding the rest of the bag would have been too much - and I'm glad I followed my instincts. The taste of the peppers and onions overpowered the dish. I might try this recipe again, but with several revisions to improve the thickness of the sauce and omit the peppers altogether.

White Sangria with Lemonade

Yummy! This was a huge hit. Everyone loved it - the fruit chunks in the drink really make it unique. A definite keeper!

Monkey Bread with Butterscotch Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
I'm giving this recipe 3 stars because the flavor was yummy but the way the recipe is written, they came out an ugly mess. I had to piece together some of the better parts just to take the photo. When I first took them out of the oven, I thought that it would have to go straight in the trash...but then I took a bite and wow! Such a good flavor. I served them up for the kids and they were gone in seconds. There needs to be a better way to prepare the pudding mix, sugar and butter so that it creates a glaze, rather than a clump of powder. I will tweak and make again in the future.

Corn Chowder Phyllo Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
I made these for a group of friends last night and every one loved them. The key is to make sure they are bite sized - you must put the whole piece in your mouth or you'll make a mess! I spread 1/3 cup of mozzerella on each side, instead of the 1/4c that the recipe called for just to make the bites a bit sturdier. I spread the mozzerella around the phyllo dough, kind of like a barrier, to help keep the chowder from seeping out. Will definitely use again and may tweak for other flavors.

Peanut Butter Cup Dessert Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
I made this for my 10 year old son who was asking for a new peanut butter dessert. I have to admit that I was bit skeptical about this recipe at first, but since it seemed simple and I had all the ingredients on hand, I figured I'd give it a shot...and I'm glad I did. First off, this recipe is so simple and easy that kids could make it themselves. The sugar cookie "crust" with the peanut butter makes it taste like a peanut butter cookie with Reese's on top. This would also be a nice easy dessert (thought a bit messy) for a pot luck, if you're looking to bring something different.

Easy Noodle Kugel

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
I am the author of the recipe and I wanted to mention that if you do not want the noodles on top to come out crunchy, then you should cover your pan with tin foil before putting it in the oven. You may want to adjust your baking time a little to ensure it doesn't overcook. Some people love the crispy noodles. I do not, but my mother and brother always fought over who would get to eat them. :)

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
My husband lived in Florida for many years and is a key lime pie aficionado. I have tried many recipes over the years, and none have succeeded, until now. I used a regular pie crust instead of a graham cracker crust, and I also added 1/2 tsp of vanilla and 3 tbs of powdered sugar to the whipped cream topping. He is absolutely thrilled! Thanks IRENED for the recipe!

Erin's Year Round Party Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2012
I made this for a BBQ and everyone loved it. I followed the recipe, except I used a larger jar of salsa, because I couldn't find an 8oz jar anywhere, then forgot to only use half when I prepared it. Everyone loved this dip and asked me for the recipe. It's a keeper!

Creamy Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
This was a good recipe, but needs some tweaking. I followed the recipe exactly and baked for the recommended time but the pie never really formed properly. I baked for an additional 5 minutes, then took it out to sit before adding the sour cream. I baked for another 10 minutes and it still wasn't ready, so I baked for another 5 minutes before taking it out of the oven for fear of over baking. After 10 hours in the fridge, it still wasn't fully formed. I think in the future it needs to be cooked a bit longer before adding the sour cream. I might also take the sugar in the cream cheese mixture down a tad.

Grilled Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage with Tomato Cream Sauce Over Linguine

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
This recipe came out great and was very easy too. Even an inexperienced cook would be able to make this without any problems. The only thing I did differently was add a little bit of cornstarch to help it thicken - otherwise it would have been too watery. Will definitely make this again.

This was very good - the flour really helps the bread stay firm instead of getting mushy.

Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
My family really enjoyed this recipe. Of all the spaghetti and meatball recipes on AR, I chose this one because the author is from the same town as my husband - Lewiston, Idaho. He's always complaining that my spaghetti and meatballs don't taste like what he grew up with. Well, that problem is now fixed because he loved this! I used Jimmy Dean's Italian ground pork instead of plain.

Sinfully Rich P 'n' B Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
This recipe was a bit disappointing for me due to the other reviews. It's good, but it's missing something. It definitely needs some salt and I would most likely use real whipped cream instead of cool whip in the future.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
This was a pretty good recipe, very easy to prepare. My only complaint is that the chicken never got crispy. I ended up having to put the chicken back in the oven at 450 for 5 minutes or so to get it to crisp up a bit, but it was still overall soft. The flavor was good and tasted like fried chicken, though one of my guests thought it was a tad spicy.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
This was very good and super easy to make. I followed other reviewers suggestions and put the ketchup/brown sugar combo on top, instead of on the bottom. My husband liked it but thought I could cut down on the brown sugar a little bit next time, which I will.

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
Oh my goodness, was this good! I followed the recipe with one exception, which was cubing the chicken instead of cooking the breasts whole. My daughter asked for seconds, and my hubby had thirds, then proceeded to clean out the remnants inside the crock pot. There was nothing left! The only thing I might change in the future is to only use 3/4 of a package of the Italian dressing mix because I think it might improve the overall taste a bit. This is going into the "keeper" pile. **Update - made this again but used Healthy Request Cream of Chicken soup instead of regular - this was still delicious even though it cut out a lot of fat.

Easy Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
I'm going to give this 3 stars because it is a good base recipe, but needs a little bit of help in the flavor department. Here's what I did to tweak it. I added a can of frozen apple juice concentrate to improve the flavor and a couple of tsps of cinnamon. I used half a can of chicken broth instead of 2 tbs of chicken soup base. I cut the pork into bites during the last half hour of cooking to give this more of a pork stew kind of feel. I also added 2 tsp of cold water to 2 tsp of cornstarch, stirred it until it was smooth and added it to the crock pot. This thickened the sauce up quite nicely. I served it over rice and my husband said it tasted like a sweet and sour pork dish. It was much better with these changes but not something that we will make again.
