Lemon Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2014
These bars just didn't do it for me. The filling was yummy but I didn't care for it paired with the taste of the crescent rolls (which I like).

Amazing Muffin Cups

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2014
My family loved these! Even my picky 9 year old! My husband thought they'd also be good using ground Johnsonville sausage instead of the breakfast links. I also found that the hash browns didn't crisp after 12 minutes. I put them back in the oven for another 15 and they were perfect!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2014
My husband and I both loved this recipe! Here's one helpful hint: buy a deep dish frozen crust (the ones that are already shaped and in a tin pan) and then buy a refrigerated pie crust (one that your roll out or unwrap) for the top. Will definitely make again and again!

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2014
I made this recipe as written. First, let me say that the topping is so unbelievably good. I suggest doubling it. As written, this macaroni and cheese is a tad too spicy for my kids, so they wouldn't eat it. My husband and I enjoyed it, though I also thought the spice could come down a bit.

Pork Carnitas with Cilantro Tomatillo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2014
I found this surprisingly easy to make. I followed the directions and made no changes, including using the Mazola Corn Oil that the recipe calls for...I believe it added a great flavor to the pork. I was a bit skeptical of having cubed pork for carnitas, as we normally use shredded, but it worked well. The kids didn't care for the salsa, so they added sour cream and cheese and made pork tacos out of it.

Coco's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2014
This was very yummy. Normally I don't like to review recipes that I've made changes to, but this came out so good that I feel I need to. I didn't have any onion or bell pepper in the house so instead I used some garlic powder and onion powder in the egg mixture. I followed all other instructions and it was so good!

Boston Brown Bread III

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2013
First, let me just say that I LOVED this bread! But...if you are looking for a bread that is, well, bread like, this is not it. However, if you are looking for a moist bread that's similar to banana bread, then look no further! This bread is fantastic warm with some butter or cream cheese on top. I didn't change anything in the recipe except that I mixed the ingredients by hand and then used my bread machine to bake it (by using the bake only setting at 1 hour 5 minutes) and it turned out perfect!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
I made these as holiday gifts for my coworkers. One of them said "these are more addicting than crack". She's right. They are so yummy and oh so good. I used an 11x17 cookie sheet with sides and lined it with non stick aluminum foil. This was super easy. One important tip: mix the butter and brown sugar together until combined over low heat - then bring it up to a boil and DO NOT STIR IT!! No matter how badly you want to. Let it boil for 3 minutes and pour it over the crackers. Perfection!

Shortcut Chicken Manicotti

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
Wow, was this good! I have to admit that I was skeptical about not cooking the manicotti prior to stuffing, but it worked out just fine and was much easier to stuff that way. My kids LOVED this and so did my husband and I.

Johnsonville Italian Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
A big hit with the family. I made the meatballs on the small side because it's easier for the kids to eat them that way. Using sausage really made these stand out from our normal beef meatballs and the meatballs themselves were yummy. The pasta, however, needed some tweaking. I had to add some mozzarella and ricotta and sauce to make it not so dry.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
This was very easy and the au jus it makes was so good! I used a rump roast but I think a different cut of meat would have been better. The rump roast shredded instead of sliced and was a bit tough. I cooked mine on low for 5 hours and it was done...I think 7 would be way too long. I used a can of Michelob Lite (that was the only beer in the fridge that my husband wouldn't disown me for using in a meal) and added about 7 shakes of Worcestershire sauce and a little bit of garlic powder and onion powder to the meat. I served over rolls that I toasted slightly in the oven. I also added some mozzarella to a few of the sandwiches. Yummy!

Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting

My first faceless recipe for October. You know you're baking something good when while its in the oven baking, you get a UPS package and the driver tells you "wow, whatever you're baking smells delicious!"

Bowties with Italian Sausage in a Cream Basil Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
My family really enjoyed this dish. The only complaint I had was from the kids who thought it was too hot, and I have to agree (but I don't care for spicy things in general). Next time, I will cut back on the red pepper flakes or omit them altogether. As for ease, you can't get much simpler than this. My 8 year old daughter helped me with almost every step of the recipe. I paired the dish with some garlic bread sticks. Delish!

Caprese Bison Sirloin Steak with Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2013
We tried this tonight, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good this tasted. I am weary of trying "other" meats because I don't like meat when it's gamey but this was excellent. I would cut down on the pesto a bit because I felt it was a little strong, but otherwise it was excellent! It paired well with the pasta and the red roasted potatoes I made (since the kids are picky about their pasta.)

Banana Bread IV

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
I would have to give this 4.5 stars. I made two loaves, one with nuts and one without. I really enjoyed this bread, especially the crust. I did think it was tad dry. My husband liked the bread but thought it had too much sugar in it. He also said that it has more of a cake like texture than a bread like texture.

Mom's Irish Ziti

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2013
This was a good ziti recipe. We had some ground lamb given to us by a friend and I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Since this ziti recipe was similar to my own, I figured I'd give it a shot. My husband and kids enjoyed this.

Beefy Sweet Potato Hash

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about the combination of beef, sweet potatoes and taco seasoning, but they actually work very well together. My husband said he would have preferred this without the tortillas so in the future I will serve it without.

I made this for dinner tonight and no one liked it. The flavor was just off somehow. I followed the recipe with no changes or substitutions.
