Goose and Kraut

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
A very good way to prepare goose. My husband and son are avid waterfowl hunters so I'm always looking for new ways to prepare their bounty. They don't clean their geese/ducks whole, they only save the breasts (except rarely). So, I cut goose breast meat into large chunks and just put it into the crockpot raw with everything else. Dinner will be in an hour, but I took a bite out to "taste test" it. Very good and I'm sure there won't be any leftovers! Thank you!

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
I'd give 10 stars if i could! Made this for a St. Patrick's Day Luncheon and the rest of the day I had co-workers complimenting me on how great it was. Very creamy, not too rich. My only problem was it cracked - like the Grand Canyon. I don't think it's the recipe, but I've never had that happen to a cheesecake before and I've made many cheesecakes. I will make this again, but do some research on how to prevent cracking. I guess I've just been lucky for it to never have happened to me before.

Turkey Cream Cheese Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
We had a huge turkey dinner on Saturday and had plenty of left-over turkey. So, I searched this site and found this recipe. Yummy! It then ended up I babysat our Mexican friend's 3 children. So the 8 year old wanted to help me cook dinner. This recipe does take some work so it was nice to have the extra hands for stirring, etc. She also taught me how to roll a "mean" enchilada in no time!! I didn't have yellow or orange peppers but it was still awesome. We will eat these again. We topped them with more sour cream and salsa. I did not heat the tortillas in oil, we just popped them in the microwave for a minute to save time. All I can say is everyone loved these - delicious!

Old-Fashioned Lemonade

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Delicious! I made this for my son's "fair food" birthday and it was a hit. I didn't add quite that much sugar - personal preference.

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
Very Good! This bread came out wonderful! I took the advice of other reviewers and spritzed my bread while it was baking. I did it every 7 minutes. I also added some fresh rosemary and that gave it a wonderful aroma! I can't wait for hubby to get home so we can have a glass of wine and dip this bread into olive oil with oregano in it. Some reviewers complained of this bread being too sticky. It was somewhat sticky & wet, but not overly so. Came out perfect!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Goose Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
One word - WOW!!! My husband and son are avid waterfowl hunters so I have plenty of goose in my freezer. This is fantastic! I bought a bottle of raspberry chipotle sauce and it goes great with this instead of bbq sauce. Definitely a new favorite at our house.

Caramel Macchiato Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
This is very good! The glazing on top is pretty sweet and buttery, but I like that sort of thing. The only thing I'll do different next time is make sure I have 3 good-sized bananas for more banana flavor; I only had 2 this time. I also wonder what some mini-chocolate chips would taste like in the batter. But as is this is a 5-star recipe. Thank you!

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
Worth a 10-star rating! My grocery didn't have thick enough chops out so I asked the butcher to cut me these. He also cut the pocket in them for me as well. I would suggest to maybe only use a 1-3/4" thick as these were very thick and took a little longer to cook. These flavors were fabulous altogether! The next night I took the leftovers and cut them up in a microwaveable dish, added more shredded smoked gouda, cooked bacon and parsley and microwaved until the cheese was melted. Made an excellent "casserole".

Crab Stuffed Flounder

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
Very, very good! My flounder fillets seemed awfully thin to me, so I made a "sandwich" out of this using the crab as the filling. We enjoyed these very much and will have them again.

Chinese Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Delicious! Any time my son agrees something is good - it becomes a favorite here real quick! One bite and he was reaching for more. The gravy definitely is what puts this over the top! I used my cast-iron skillet for this like Mike had suggested in his blog and I think that helped add to the flavor. Thank you for a delicious dinner!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Very good! I only did one thing different and that is I used half and half instead of milk. To go with it I made rosemary ham & swiss cheese toasted sandwiches. Our deli sells a really good ham that has rosemary in it. This was a quick and easy soup to make on a chilly, rainy evening.

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
These are really good, and easy to make! I followed the recipe exact, except for the very last sentence "Store in airtight container". Umm... I didn't have any left to store! :-) Next time I might add some cinnamon to the sugar that I rolled them in.

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I have to say these were a HUGE hit! I just recently bought steel cut oats so I converted these to a crockpot recipe using them. I used 1 cup steel cut oats, 3-1/2 cups water and followed the rest of the recipe as is. Delicious! I wouldn't normally write a review when I didn't follow exact directions, but really other than using a different type of oats it is the same recipe. BigShotsMom, we really enjoyed these! Thank you!

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
This is an awesome soup! I tried it out on my husband first and he gave it his stamp of approval so I made it for a luncheon at work. Big Hit! I used some chorizo sausage just to spice it up a bit.

Grilled Yellow Squash

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Very good! I have a nice grilling basket, so I sliced my squash, but other than that small change I made it like it says. Very tasty. I love grilled veggies but had never grilled yellow squash. I will be grilling it now!
