Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
I just put a big pot of this in the fridge for my dad's 74th birthday celebration tomorrow. I believe chili needs to be made one day and eaten the next as it's always better reheated. But, this stuff is OMG delicious! I have some "wimpy" family members so I did not add the chile peppers and I used beans in mild and medium sauce not spicy. I also left out the bell peppers and celery just because we don't care for that in chili. But, I do believe the beer and the sausage is what really makes this so good! That and the bacon. Yummy! Thank you for a fantastic recipe.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Heather - THANK YOU for this recipe!!! We have a favorite restaurant that has a sweet potato casserole very similar (if not exact) to this and I love it! I have tried and tried to duplicate it, but just never got it quite right; I'm thinking it's the cream. I made a 1/2 recipe of this last night to try it out on hubby and myself. Yup! Perfect - I will be making this again and again.

Chicken Cacciatore with Chorizo

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
This was THE BEST meal we've had in ages! Fantastic! My husband said it was perfect! The only thing I didn't do was add mushrooms because when I pulled them out of the fridge they were bad. I served this over garlicky buttered noodles. Thumbs up! This was "plate lickin' good!!" Thank you Sarah for such a fabulous recipe!!!

Buttermilk Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Very tasty. I didn't use my bread machine, I used my KA mixer instead but I think I should have let it work a little longer on the bread hook as it was kind of dense. After I took it out of the oven I spread honey on the top. I think I've finally found a good copy of the bread one of our favorite restaurants on Chincoteague Island makes!

Cheesy Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
I'd give it 4-1/2 stars if I could. Very good, but not super fabulous - a bit too much garlicky flavor and they were pretty "hot", but I love hot stuff so it was fine for me, hubby thought it was just a tad too much, though he ate them and said he'd them again. At first when I told him what I was making he wasn't too sure about chicken meatballs. I wasn't real sure what to serve these with or how to serve them. I finally just made "kicked up" mashed potatoes and steamed some fresh green beans in chicken broth. It made for a very tasty meal.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
So good I'm not sure I'll ever buy Ranch dressing again! The only thing I did differently was used fresh chives and parsley because I didn't have any dried. Oh, I also used buttermilk instead of the sour cream like some others had suggested. Fabulous!

Chocolate Pudding Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
Very good! I mixed this up and popped it in the oven as we sat down to eat. It was done and ready for our dessert. I served it with vanilla ice cream. Yum! My son stopped by for dinner and was happy to have a homemade chocolatey dessert.

Kevin's Sea Shells

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
This was very easy and very good! I don't think it took as long as 1-1/2 hrs. so that made me happy. I did not change a single thing, except I added a tad more wine and 1/2 & 1/2 as the sauce seemed a little too thick for me. My husband really enjoyed this. I'm taking left overs for lunch and can't wait to eat it.

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

These were not good. Flavor wasn't there and they were more like hockey pucks than biscuits!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
This was pretty good. Definitely easy to make, and fairly quick. I only used 2 chicken breasts, but made the full amount of sauce - which worked out well.

Tat - you outdid yourself with this one! Wow! Thanks! I am enjoying this right now. Perfect Sunday morning beverage. And, a great way to finish up the leftover pumpkin from the cookies I made the other day. Fabulous! I may become addicted!!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
Huge hit at work!! I took them to work and they were gone within an hour! The dough did seem a little sticky to me, so I added a couple tablespoons of flour - they baked up just fine. I made a cream cheese frosting for them. I will be making these again. Delicious! Goes great with coffee

Slow Cooker Lentil Rice Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
As is, this recipe is worth about a star and a half. When I got home from work I had to really do some "tweaking" to get this to be edible. I took the advice of another reviewer and added cumin, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and I increased the amount of salt, pepper and garlic powder. I also found (like every other reviewer)that WAAYYY more liquid is needed. I had used only half the amounts of lentils (which I soaked overnight) and half the rice, but the full amount of water and broth. When I got home I added an additional 3 cups chicken broth to the crock pot. With all my additions it does have a nice flavor. I might make it again, but only using my changes.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
I've made these twice now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and I would have given them 5 stars just as is. Then, tonight I made them for our "breakfast for dinner" supper. I used up some buttermilk I had left over in the fridge and added almost a tsp. of vanilla. They're 5 stars like that as well. Very good!

Cod with Italian Crumb Topping

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
It was very good - but I think there was just a little too much topping for the fish. Next time I'll use less topping, or else use more olive oil. I made orzo and a fresh salad to go with it and it was a hit.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
Fabulous! I had never made yeast cinnamon rolls before - the closest thing I ever came to was bisquick with butter spread on it and cinnamon/sugar sprinkled over it. These are out of this world - the buttermilk definitely makes this recipe! I did not change a thing. As soon as they came out of the oven, I drizzled an almond flavored glaze over them. I made these to share with my friend tomorrow, but I'm not sure any will be left! Perfect.

Shrimp Salsa

Can I give it 10 stars??!! I just made this up for a quick appy tonight since we're getting company for dinner. It is so fresh and delicious!! It may not make it for an appy - I keep going back to the fridge for just another little taste. LOL Love the lime juice and cilantro - Yummy!!
