Slow Cooker Barbecue Goose Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
One word - WOW!!! My husband and son are avid waterfowl hunters so I have plenty of goose in my freezer. This is fantastic! I bought a bottle of raspberry chipotle sauce and it goes great with this instead of bbq sauce. Definitely a new favorite at our house.

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
Very Good! This bread came out wonderful! I took the advice of other reviewers and spritzed my bread while it was baking. I did it every 7 minutes. I also added some fresh rosemary and that gave it a wonderful aroma! I can't wait for hubby to get home so we can have a glass of wine and dip this bread into olive oil with oregano in it. Some reviewers complained of this bread being too sticky. It was somewhat sticky & wet, but not overly so. Came out perfect!

Cheesy Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
These were good, just nothing really spectacular. I found it to be a bit too much mayo for our taste. They needed something to "spice" them up, next time I'll try to think of something.

Hidden Valley Ranch Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
We liked the flavor of these - it was a nice change from regular mashed potatoes. My only problem with this recipe was it seemed pretty dry. Next time I'll add more milk.

Rigatoni Pasta with Chorizo

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
We liked this. I followed the recipe except for I did not use all chorizo sausage, I was afraid that would be too much for my family. Instead I used 1/4 chorizo and the balance in Italian pork sausage. It was a nice mix. This was a nice quick and easy meal for a week night. We will make this again.

Not bad, but not the best either.

Braised Lemon Pheasant

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
Very, very good! When my husband cleans pheasants, he does not leave them whole, so I had boneless pieces of pheasant. I don't think it really made a difference, other than it was a shorter cooking time. I followed the recipe as is, except I used chicken broth as that is what I had and sort of thought it would go better with the pheasant. This did not disappoint!! I cooked this in my cast-iron skillet and every last morsel was devoured. I'm always looking for new ways to try pheasant and this was certainly well worth the try; easy and delicious!! Thank you!

Lemon Chive Couscous

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This seemed very dry to me. It wasn't very well liked so I doubt I'll be making this again.

Mock Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
This wasn't bad, just lacking in something. It was pretty dry and not much flavor. My son said if I put it in front of him again he'd probably eat it; but if asked if he wanted me to make it again, he'd want to know all of his options before saying yes. I don't think I'll make this again. I made mashed potatoes and green beans to go with this, along with a brown gravy.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Very tasty! I think I might add just a little more honey next time to give more honey flavor. I will make this again - it was a big hit at the dinner table.

Old-Fashioned Lemonade

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Delicious! I made this for my son's "fair food" birthday and it was a hit. I didn't add quite that much sugar - personal preference.

Funnel Cakes II

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
These were great! My son had a "fair food" birthday dinner and these were the highlight! I added 1/2 tsp. vanilla to the batter and used an empty chocolate syrup bottle to squeeze the batter into the oil. Fun to make and eat - brought a little bit of our county fair to our home.

Waldorf Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Delicious! I had to add some mini-marshmallows, though, or my kids would have been severely disappointed. The sprinkling of nutmeg added a nice flavor. This was a great addition to our Easter table.

Rich Chocolate Truffle Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
I am a HUGE chocolate lover so that is why this gets a 3-star rating. Definitely very rich. My problem with it is the consistency. I did not find it fluffy, but rather quite dense. It almost reminded me of fudge that did not quite set properly. I think it needs a little work to become a 5-star recipe. It did disappear quickly, though.

Simple Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2011
This should get 10 stars for simplicity! My husband had bought some beautiful strawberries and after dinner we thought of strawberry shortcake. Of course I had nothing for the cake (his favorite is sponge cake) so I popped onto AR and found this quick, simple recipe. In no time flat we had a great smelling and looking cake, great strawberries and homemade whipped cream for the topping. Like a few others said it did have a bit of an eggy taste, but not over-powering. Next time I might try 2 eggs instead of 3 and add a bit of water. This was very tasty.

Turkey Cream Cheese Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
We had a huge turkey dinner on Saturday and had plenty of left-over turkey. So, I searched this site and found this recipe. Yummy! It then ended up I babysat our Mexican friend's 3 children. So the 8 year old wanted to help me cook dinner. This recipe does take some work so it was nice to have the extra hands for stirring, etc. She also taught me how to roll a "mean" enchilada in no time!! I didn't have yellow or orange peppers but it was still awesome. We will eat these again. We topped them with more sour cream and salsa. I did not heat the tortillas in oil, we just popped them in the microwave for a minute to save time. All I can say is everyone loved these - delicious!

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
I'd give 10 stars if i could! Made this for a St. Patrick's Day Luncheon and the rest of the day I had co-workers complimenting me on how great it was. Very creamy, not too rich. My only problem was it cracked - like the Grand Canyon. I don't think it's the recipe, but I've never had that happen to a cheesecake before and I've made many cheesecakes. I will make this again, but do some research on how to prevent cracking. I guess I've just been lucky for it to never have happened to me before.

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I wasn't sure what my family would think of this - it seems so simple. But - Wow! Everyone loved it! I had thrown this in the crockpot so we would have dinner quickly, and I threw some quartered potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker. When I got home all I did was steam some broccoli and dinner was ready. It was such a hit that my husband was talking about it at work and all the ladies requested the recipe. A very nice, quick and easy dinner!

Slow Cooker Ham and Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
I really didn't even want to give this one star, but did only because it was edible, just not palatable. My husband and I both did not finish one bowl of this and I am deleting from my recipe box. I think there was far too much brown sugar, it was way too sweet with no other flavor really. I even added more of each ingredient to try and make it taste better, with no luck. I am going to refrigerate it until tomorrow and taste again. Maybe it will be better the second day. I'm glad I made the cheddar biscuits that I did!

Cheddar Biscuit Cups

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
These were very good! They were moist, yet held together well. I added about 1/2 cup of very finely chopped frozen broccoli that I thawed. I made them to go with a ham & Bean soup that was not good at all, so I was very happy these came out as they became the main dish. We will definitely make these again and again!
