As many of you know, Jon and I have become very close to a Mexican family. They have become extended family to us - their three children are like grandchildren and we spend a lot of time with them; even vacationing together at the beach the past two summers.  This summer we didn't get to go… MORE

The Buckeye Bash 2014 came to an end on Saturday afternoon, after two days of fun with friends.  We weren't a large group, but we still had a blast!  Mickdee made the trek from Michigan, Sassyoldlady came from Toledo, and coming from the Columbus area were Saveur, Bellepepper and… MORE

Last summer Kristal and I discovered a super cool app for our phones: AllTrails. It's an app that will give you lists and lists of hiking trails near you. The list comes up, you choose a trail and you get a short description, photos, reviews, and directions.  We found that sometimes the… MORE

Yesterday was the first 4th of July picnic that I did not host in many, many years. Kristal and Jake recently purchased their first home and have been spending the past 2 months working very hard to make it "their home". I have to say they are doing an excellent job. The house is a nice… MORE

Jon and I just got back from our trip out West.  This was a different vacation - not only did we take our two labs, but my parents also went and took their two labs.  And - we went to South Dakota to visit Stephen, as well as my sister, Deb, and her husband, Brian.  What a trip it was!  My… MORE

About Me
I've been married for 32 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have a black lab that gets to go duck hunting with dad, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
