My normal go-to kinds of desserts ALWAYS involve chocolate. Always.  I can't say that anymore; I just found a new dessert that we both loved.  Today was my first day of Spring break.  I had to think twice about that when I woke up and saw the snow falling....  Was it Spring break or Winter… MORE

Saturday afternoon Jon and I stopped at the restaurant for a brief moment, hoping to catch Federico there to invite him and his family over on St. Patrick's Day for an Irish meal.   We hit the Jackpot, or should I say the Pot of Gold!?  Not only was Federico there, but his wife and three kids… MORE

The past few mornings as I head out my door at 6:30 am for work I've noticed something different.  I'm hearing things.  Good things.  There has been that far off sound of birds chirping their good mornings to me.  I love that sound!  It reminds me of weekend mornings and hot cups of coffee… MORE

Dinner wasn't really all that wild, as in crazy wild. It was wild as in wild game dishes were on the menu.  My dad invited Jon and I to an Izaac Walton League wild game dinner.  Dad has been going to cardio-rehab for several years now and has become friends with a group of "old guys" that are… MORE

Jon's job of fixing our house from the tree falling has been put on hold the past few weeks.  It's too cold for him to work out there.  After looking at the weather forecast for this weekend we knew it was going to be another weekend of no outside work happening.  We realized we hadn't seen… MORE

About Me
I've been married for 32 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have a black lab that gets to go duck hunting with dad, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
