Way back when I was young my family would go camping.  We didn't have all the camping gear necessary for a week of fun but the state parks have a deal where you can rent all you need.  So, we would pack up our station wagon and head out to our "rent-a-tent" site for a week… MORE

Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm my Spring Break had officially begun.  By Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm the living room remodel job was offiically finished!  It is beautiful - I love it!  The pictures show the finished job.  On Saturday we had my parents, sister and her… MORE

I sit here sipping coffee in my new living room!  It's not totally finished, but it is totally new and that makes the coffee taste better!  I'll post pictures once it is completely done, but that will be a while.  My husband still has baseboard to do and he can't get to it just… MORE

The remodel job is moving right along.  My husband is really working hard to get this job done.  Sunday's drywall hanging went well.  Sunday night's dinner was Cheesy Chicken Meatballs  with mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed broccoli.  Monday morning came… MORE

We've lived in our house for over 25 years.  When we moved in we both agreed we didn't care for the wallpaper in the livingroom and that would be the first thing we'd change.  Well.... we had a toddler, then a new baby and before you knew it 25 years had gone by and we'd… MORE

Real life sometimes takes over and keeps us hopping.  We have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks, both at home and at work.  So busy, that I haven't done much cooking.  In fact - the last real cooking I did was a week ago.  Since that time we have been eating… MORE

My freezer is practically overflowing with goose and duck this year.  My husband and son did a lot of hunting and most of the time they got their limits.  So, we sat down to figure out different ways of preparing it.  Husband came up with corned goose - pretty much like corned beef. … MORE

This winter storm has certainly caused a large part of this country to come to a grinding halt.  I work at a school, so I'm kind of like the kids - I watch the weather and hope for snow days.  Before Christmas break we used 3 days, and today is the second day this week we've had off.  I… MORE

I do most of the cooking in our household, but my husband certainly knows how.  He enjoys it, too.  Sometimes we cook together.  When that happens there is always drinking involved!  Last night was one of those nights. We were having fish (cod), sweet potato casserole, steamed asparagus, and… MORE

We have become friends with the owners of the local Mexican Restaurant.  He is my daughter's age (well, he's 26, she's 25, but close enough) and has 3 children ages 3, 5 and 8.  Their children are absolutely adorable - very well behaved.  I think of them as my "adopted" grandchildren. MORE

About Me
I've been married for 32 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have a black lab that gets to go duck hunting with dad, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
