Spicy Tuna Fish Cakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
These were edible, but barely. They didn't hold together at all when flipping in the pan, and the texture wasn't great. The taste was essentially bland something with a hint of cayenne pepper.

Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
This came out excellent, though the vegetable soup mix provided some rubbery veggies. It was still good enough I'd happily eat it again just the same, but next time I'll use fresh ones and chicken.

Spicy Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
This chili is fantastic. Many "spicy" chilis don't have a flavor to back up the spice; they're just spicy to be spicy. This recipe turns out a chili that's got a good kick and a fantastic, complex flavor as well.

Praline Pumpkin Mousse

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
Another follower of the "the worse it is for you the better it tastes" rule. I have to limit myself to making it around the excusable holiday-binge time, but it's SO delicious!

Classic Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
There seem to be two categories of deviled eggs: the dijon / mayo / vinegar flavor or the sweet / miracle whip flavor. Generally speaking, people tend to love one version and hate the other. As you can probably tell from the recipe, this is the dijon / mayo / vinegar version, and it's the best one I've ever used. Fantastic! Now if only my sweetheart weren't a traitorous sweet / mayo version fan.

Garlicky Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
This really followed the rule of "the worse it is for you, the better it tastes." That's a lot of heavy, fatty ingredients, but MAN did it taste fantastic!

Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
These were some pretty fabulous potato pancakes. You can really throw whatever you'd like on top and it's great.

Crock Pot Portobello Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
The chicken wound up being pretty dry, despite sitting in a puddle of Italian dressing. The mushrooms soaked up a lot of the dressing, so their flavor was too strong. The noodles were only very vaguely flavored. This dish really didn't come together; it tasted like three separate (and not especially good) items on the same plate. That said, it was completely edible.

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2014
The original was a salt-bomb, but with about 10% of the original salt this recipe is fantastic.

Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2014
All the flavors were great and worked well together, but I must have messed up somewhere along the way. Both the bacon and the green beans were rubbery, and the texture ruined it. Wrapping the green beans was kind of a pain and they didn't want to stay wrapped. Then eating them wrapped meant nibbling down the ends and then getting the bacony part in the middle. Were I to try this again, I'd just fully cook the bacon (just crumbled in) and green beans and let it sit in the marinade rather than bake in it.

Slow-Cooker Fish Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2014
This was pretty tasty. I substituted lactose-free milk for the evaporated milk, which made it come out more like a soup than a chowder.

Artichoke Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2014
The flavors are all excellent. Be sure not to undercook the onions (like I did), or you'll end up with a weird crunch. Cook it right and these are perfect.

Teriyaki Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2014
I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe. The salmon came out absolutely perfect. I was able to broil a panfull of lightly oiled and salted asparagus at the same temperture, same amount of time, flipped at the same time as the salmon. A nice, easy, delicious side dish.

Stuffed Portobello Mushroom Caps

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2014
This turned out pretty dry and heavy, even after adding additional eggs and milk to the stuffing mixture. After scraping off the stuffing, the mushrooms themselves were delicious. The filling on this needs help.

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
The recipe as stated is a salt-bomb. That said, I think there's hope for this one. I may try this again (once I forget how awful it came out this time). I would at LEAST halve the garlic and celery salt, and probably only ONE cube of bullion. I also really didn't get the "pot pie" part. It's just chicken vegetable stew without some sort of bread. I'd serve this over biscuits.

Avocado Baked Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
Not only did this make a huge mess in the muffin pan (the eggs overflowed the avocado), but it was almost inedible. Avocado is my favorite food, but COOKED avocado tastes terrible and ruined the flavor of everything else.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
I substituted ketchup for the steak sauce since I'm not a big fan of steak sauce. This turned out to be the best meatloaf I've ever had. Moist, flavorful, and absolutely perfect.
