I am a mother of five beautiful grown children, a wife of 20 years and a grandmother to 4 wonderful babies with another on the way. I love to cook for the kids, the grandkids and the rest of the family.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook would have to be what my family refers to as "stuff". It's when I go in the kitchen and start rummaging around smelling stuff in the fridge, the pantry and the spice cabinet to see what smells good together. It's always different and I never measure so although it usually is loved by the whole family we rarely have the same "stuff" twice.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My absolute favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. The whole family gets together and I get to truly shine in the kitchen. There's something oddly satisfying about cooking up a feast that makes your family pass out. LOL
My cooking triumphs
I have cooking triumphs every week in my opinion. When my family groans with pleasure over a dinner that I created, I have triumphed (even if it's a recipe that I cook all the time).
My cooking tragedies
My first cooking experience was a real tragedy. I was young and had no idea how to cook. My mother didn't cook much at all so I didn't have any instruction. I was asked by a guy I liked to make him pork chops. I wanted to impress him and I figured "how hard can it be?". I tried baking, frying and boiling the chops because I couldn't get them to look right. In the end, my brother and my male friend spent the evening bouncing dinner at each other across the table!
