When I was a kid, my mom would take fresh lemons and squeeze the juice into ice cube trays. Once they were frozen, they were stored in Freezer bags in the fridge. When someone in the family had a cold. Mom would put a couple of these cubes, hot water
and some honey into a cup and make…
My mother always made great home cooked meals for our family, and I hope to carry on the tradition. I especially like to cook really good, filling vegetarian meals. I am focusing on learning family friendly meals so that when I have children, I will be ready.
My favorite things to cook
Mostly, I like cooking vegetarian main dishes. I a finally starting to feel comfortable altering recipes and changing them in ways I think they would work. I am really excited about new and interesting flavors.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At thanksgiving, everyone in the family picks one part of the meal to cook and I always get to make the pies. They are the best part, after all.
My cooking triumphs
Finally knowing how to use every spice in my spice rack.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make this tofu pie thing I found in a cookbook. I even cut the salt in half and it was still inedible (I found out later that the book had a misprint, confusing tablespoons with teaspoons), and the crust came out like cardboard. A total and complete failure. I think that that is my only major tragedy so far, but I am sure I will have more as I really start experimenting.
