I have a great job which allows me to travel (and eat!) but my best foodie moments are triumphs in my Florida kitchen. Recently moved here from Georgia, so my heart is in Southern food. I also love Greek, Italian, Japanese, ...ok. All food! This is my favorite website. Love your recipes, reviews, videos and tips.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken and dumplings (from scratch), all kinds of soups and stews, fish, fresh bread, kids' dishes, slow cooker meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fried chicken, red velvet cake, sweet potato souffle, turkey and dressing, slow cooked pot roast, biscuits and gravy, cornbread, soup beans, cheesy potato soup.
My cooking triumphs
Cranberry stuffed pork roast to complete a Thanksgiving Feast at a table with which Martha Stewart would have been pleased! I also mastered homemade buttermilk biscuits with sawmill gravy after years of practice runs.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to mention! ! Of course, I cooked my first turkey with the bag of giblets still inside, and as a real rookie, tried to cook frozen chicken breasts without thawing!

Broiled Lobster Tails
Easy and great! Check em every few minutes (after the initial 5) and you can clearly see them go opaque. I use real butter, if available, and sprinkle with a little old bay. I cut the shell and the meat to season through and so I can check for temperature. Recipe is easily adaptable to any size tail, just check them! The shell might get a bit dark, but that's o.k! Japanese Onion Soup
Great soup! Very similar to Japanese restaurant style. I used better than boullion and sliced button mushrooms. I think the pre-made fried onion rings are great in this as well. Important to allow the veggies to simmer and flavor the broth. You can also add dried noodles to the simmering broth for a heartier soup, but the beauty of this is the simplicity of clear soup. Loved it!!!!!

Coconut Shrimp I
Oh my goodness...this is delicious as written. Fun to prepare and you can then stick em in the fridge and go to the pool/beach/mall until you're ready to cook em. When you FEBruary (flour egg breadcrumbs, I.e. Coconut FEC), I suggest pressing in coconut to make it adhere. Don't fear the coconut. I'm not a huge fan of the stuff but I put a lot on and these were fab. I sprinkled the finished product with a SMALL amount of salt. Fam loved it with out sauce.I loved it with some balsamic fig preserves sitting in the fridge, but also loved it without sauce. Trust a southern girl; fry at 350 and you will be loved.
