Hi, my name is Misty and I am a self-proclaimed foodie. I love trying different types of cuisine and feel food is the best way to learn about a culture. When it comes to food I try to keep an open mind and will try almost anything. Whenever possible, I try to experiment with different recipes, but my kitchen is so small I have to sometimes limit myself. Of course I love to eat and cook food, but what I especially love about food is how it has an incredible way of bringing people together.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Adobo, Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice, Hummus, Pasta, and Stir-Fry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is from the Philippines and she passed a lot of her cooking knowledge down to me. One thing we always used to do was my mom, my aunt, and I would always sit around a table and roll lumpias (kind of like an egg roll) while gossiping and catching up. We would literally get so caught up in conversation that we would end up rolling over 100 of them before taking notice.
My cooking triumphs
I won a chili cook-off once. It was pretty cool since the town took the contest pretty seriously.
My cooking tragedies
Scallops. Every time. Me and scallops are not friends.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
The best mushroom soup! Seriously, this is a great recipe. My dinner guests are still talking about it and my party was three weeks ago!

Banana Sour Cream Bread
I love this recipe. It always wins me rave reviews from my friends and family. The only change I made was the oven temperature. I took the advice of other reviewers and increased the temperature to 325 degrees. The bread came out perfectly.

Honey-Balsamic Vinaigrette
This is now my new favorite dressing. I absolutely love it. The only change I made was it needed a little mustard. But other than that it was brilliant.
