About this Cook
I love to cook for my husband and I. We used to eat out alot but I caught the cooking bug a few years back and there's no stopping me now!We have a golden retriever named buddy and two kitty cats we just adore. Our favorite weekend is spent cooking together, relaxing and playing with our animals. Occasionally we take a road trip and have a picnic by the lake. All in all I'd say we have a pretty good life!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort food. Lasagna, burgers, steak, and all sorts of soups, stews and chili's. I also love to make fish tacos and coconut shrimp. Yum!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up on lebanese food that my grandmother cooked. Every holiday me and my mother and sister try and cook some of the dishes she used to make for us. It's never the same but just tasting those flavors brings me back to grandmas house.
My cooking triumphs
I used to have a hard time cooking shrimp. I would either over or under cook them always. Through trial and error a can proudly say they come out perfect everytime with all the different recipes I try. Same with steak. Either too raw or overdone. I finally have that mastered as well.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was making a scallop dish for a dinner party and one of the guests was in the kitchen talking to me the entire time. I got flustered and after I seared my scallops I dumped the pan juices in the sink that I needed for my sauce! I was so mad at myself and my guest! Dinner wasn't completely ruined it was just not as tasty as it could have been.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
This soup was totally awesome! The technique of making the bechamel separate and adding it at the end worked perfectly. The only thing I did different was to cook a bunch of bacon in the dutch oven and draining most of the fat. Then I cooked the celery, onions and ham in the bacon fat before adding the water and potatoes. I probably used more onion and potatoes than the recipe called for. I wanted it super hearty. I also used half n half instead of milk. Topped each bowl with chopped bacon, shredded cheddar and scallions. Delish!

Chicken Breasts in Caper Cream Sauce
We really enjoyed this recipe. I didn't have any dill so I used some scallions instead. Next time I definitely make sure I have dill. We're having the leftovers tonight. I'm glad I doubled the sauce, it should have even more flavor tonight. Served it with roasted brussel sprouts and cheesy mashed potatoes.

Easy Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker
Very good recipe for a busy day. Slicing onions was the hardest part! I added about 2 cups of sliced mushrooms and used all cream of mushroom soup and knorr leek soup. Omitted the water as the onions and mushrooms and chops would release plenty of juice. Hubs loved it and there are plenty of leftovers for another easy meal.
