About this Cook
I love to cook for my husband and I. We used to eat out alot but I caught the cooking bug a few years back and there's no stopping me now!We have a golden retriever named buddy and two kitty cats we just adore. Our favorite weekend is spent cooking together, relaxing and playing with our animals. Occasionally we take a road trip and have a picnic by the lake. All in all I'd say we have a pretty good life!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort food. Lasagna, burgers, steak, and all sorts of soups, stews and chili's. I also love to make fish tacos and coconut shrimp. Yum!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up on lebanese food that my grandmother cooked. Every holiday me and my mother and sister try and cook some of the dishes she used to make for us. It's never the same but just tasting those flavors brings me back to grandmas house.
My cooking triumphs
I used to have a hard time cooking shrimp. I would either over or under cook them always. Through trial and error a can proudly say they come out perfect everytime with all the different recipes I try. Same with steak. Either too raw or overdone. I finally have that mastered as well.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was making a scallop dish for a dinner party and one of the guests was in the kitchen talking to me the entire time. I got flustered and after I seared my scallops I dumped the pan juices in the sink that I needed for my sauce! I was so mad at myself and my guest! Dinner wasn't completely ruined it was just not as tasty as it could have been.

Crispy Fish Fillets
We really liked this. The batter came out a little eggy like a pancake almost. Although they were crispy I missed the flaky crunch like you get with panko. Still very tasty though!

Chef John's Classic Beef Stroganoff
This came out fabulous! Cutting the chuck steak into strips was the hardest part. They browned up beautifully and the sauce was a nice dark rich brown. I used 3 TB flour and it was the perfect consistancy by the end. I tasted for seasoning and it didn't need any addition salt and pepper. I did season the meat quite generously before browning. It did however taste a bit sour so I added about a 1/2 ts. of sugar and that did the trick! The meat was so tender after cooking for about an hour and 15 minutes. No knife needed! My husband raved throughout the entire meal. Served on buttered parmesan egg noodles with cresent rolls on the side. A must try for anyone who loves stroganoff.

Potato Crunchy Tenders
Wow was this good! So easy too. I used chicken tenders and added garlic powder and parmesan cheese along with the salt and pepper (just eyeballed it) to the potato flakes. I pan fried them in a mixture of canola oil and butter. My husband couldn't believe how good they were for something so simple. Served them with creamy pesto fettuccini. Leftovers tonight will be dan's favorite chicken sandwich from this site. Bacon, cheese, bbq sauce and ranch. Yum. I'll probably add lettuce and tomato too. Can't wait!
