I was thinking about soups all summer long.  Not thinking that I wanted to make them because, of course, it was way too hot for all that.  But thinking that I don't make them enough.  In fact, I don't think I have ever made a soup.  I've made chili and stew but I don't think that counts.  I… MORE

About this Cook
Everyone in my family cooks! We always had a home cooked meal from mom and weekend breakfasts from dad. And the best was grandpa's Sunday dinners after church! Now, my younger brother is a professional pastry chef and I'm a mom who loves to cook for her family as well!
My favorite things to cook
There are tons of great local foods here in the Ypsi/Ann Arbor area! I love to try new vegetables that are in season from the farmer's markets. My favorites change as I try new recipes. Currently, we love home made pizza, chicken with avocado salsa and polenta with goat cheese, tomatoes and Swiss chard.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love my mom's Christmas cookies. She makes dozens and dozens but my favorite will always be the spritz Christmas trees with sprinkles as ornaments!!

Absolutely Best Brownies
These were perfect! I added pecans instead of walnuts because I had them on hand :)

Grandma's Polish Perogies
These were really good. I made them while at my parents' place for the holidays and my dad wants the recipe! We doubled the cheese and used shredded colby. I also added garlic and onion powder. I used 9 med potatoes because I was afraid I wouldn't have enough filling and it was one potato too much. Will make again on a Sunday (they took a while to make 1.5 hours just stuffing them) and freeze for future dinners.

White Bread For The Bread Machine
MMM...this was great! I can see this as a great base to add garlic and herbs or maybe cinnamon raisin!
