Chicken Paprikash II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2015
Substituted bacon grease for olive oil; Used chicken breast with skin and bone, but removed the skin before adding the final sauce. I added 3 chicken bouillion cubes to 2 cups of water. I probably could have used more paprika, but didn't want to overdo it. My husband loved the dish, but is not a fan of sour cream. He said the sour cream was a little too strong for his taste, so next time, I think I will add only half of a container of that. The dish was very tasty. For next time, I will also try using a slotted spoon to make the spaetzel, as a regular spoon produced pieces that were a little too big.

White Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
What an easy recipe and so delicious! The bouillion cube makes all the difference! I cut up slivers of chorizo, fried it, and then added it to the sauce. My husband loved it!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2012
I think I could probably find a better recipe out there. The stew was good, but I had to add more water to the recipe than suggested, as it was slightly on the dry side. It definitely needed more seasoning (salt) as well.

Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
Pork Roast was great. I would probably get a little more generous with the salt, but other than that, the spices were perfect. I also took the pork out once it hit 140 degrees and let it rest until it reached 160.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
Chicken Marsala is one of those dishes where you can really mix it up and do different things, add different ingredients, and it can still come out great. This was my first time making it, so I experimented. I added garlic powder to the flour mixture, and diced onions in with the mushrooms. I wanted the sauce to get creamy and thick, so I substituted the sherry with about a cup of chicken stock, and I also added some heavy cream to give it an added creamy look and taste. Also, I forgot to add the olive oil in with the butter, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I put it over the linguini, and it was really good. Word of advice, be generous with the spices, you can even add extra at the end. Good luck!

Solomon Grundy

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I basically added the ground beef to my leftover chicken soup for a little variety. I added only a little bit of water to reduce thickness. It came out well.

Cabbage and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
This was great! I have been looking for something to do with that cabbage in my fridge! I didn't have tomatoes on hand, but I did have hot salsa. I was hesitant to add it, but I'm glad I did! I used more olive oil as well. Other reviews said they cooked this a lot longer. I had the whole meal done in less than 20 minutes. I diced the cabbage, and also flavored the rice with butter and salt before adding it to the mix. Will definitely make again!

Yummy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
The meatloaf was good. I wasn't strict with ingredient amounts. I added alot more onion, used fresh bread, and was very generous with the worchestshire sauce. I also used very little water, since the meat was only 75% thawed out. I would like to try a recipe that includes adding some veggies. I think that would give the meatloaf a more unique taste.

Chicken Breasts with Olives

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This was super easy and my hubby liked it alot. The olives are a great touch. The recipe doesn't call for salt/pepper, but I added. I think it would have been a little bland without. However, I also didn't have tarragon, so I improvised with thyme as well.

Cornish Hens the Easy Way

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
The hens were moist and pretty flavorful. I used lemon juice since I had no lime on hand. I also put garlic in the cavity, however, next time I think I will actually sliver it into the breast of the bird. Hen needs a good hour to cook. Lift the wings to make sure the meat is not pink.
