Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2014
The sauce is very good. I cooked the ribs indoors a few different ways and found the best method was to follow the directions for Scott Hibb's baby back ribs (except broiling rather than grilling them at the end), putting this sauce on at the end. Yum!

Delicious Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
This is the best salmon I have ever made, the best I've ever eaten! I made this paleo-friendly by substituting coconut aminos for the soy sauce and date sugar for the brown sugar. I don't want to even try it any other way because this was soo perfectly delicious. I'm not a huge fan of salmon but my son is. We both agreed that this was great! I searched it with garlic mashed cauliflower and ginger-garlic broccoli (I have a lot of garlic right now).

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2014
This was very good! I used coconut aminos in place of soy sauce. I imagine regular soy sauce would make this saltier but it was perfect the way I made it. If you use soy, definitely use low sodium.

Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccoli

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2014
We didn't really like this. It was edible but there are definitely better recipes for broccoli out there

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2014
This is a good basic recipe. I like it but there's no "wow" factor to make it a 5-star rating. Like others, I put everything in a large Ziploc bag along with several other items from my spice rack: garlic powder, onion salt, etc.

Balsamic Roasted Carrots

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2014
This is my new favorite way to cook carrots. I made it as-written last night for my son and myself. We liked it so much that I quadrupled the recipe tonight. I found that I don't need to roast the carrots as long as it says. I use regular carrots, peeled and cut to relatively the size of baby carrots. I don't use quite the amount of balsamic as called for. I just give the carrots a good sprinkling, mix it up and roast 5 more minutes or so. Yum!

Mediterranean Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2014
This is an excellent recipe. The only thing that keeps me from giving it the full 5 stars is that I don't like the crumbled bay leaf. It never ends up completely edible.

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
This was excellent! I would give it 5 stars but my son (age 19) voted for 3, so I compromised. I added a can each of rinsed black & kidney beans. With Greek yogurt on top, it was amazing! Oh, I don't have coriander and my taco seasoning was homemade.

Grama's Peppery Parsnips

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
This was my first experience with parsnips. They were delicious! I love how the butter flavor came through. Sweet but not too sweet. Thank you!

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2014
This was very good. I would make this again. Definitely the best way to cook cauliflower that I have found so far, but wasn't the "wow" that is needed for me to give it five stars.

Miso-Glazed Skirt Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2014
I made this as written except that I grilled it on the George Foreman. It was so good! Definitely will make again!

Honey Bear Smoothie

pretty good. It's higher calories than make it worth it for the flavor though

Sonoran Tilapia

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
This was just ok. I don't know what I did differently from everyone else. The only substitution I made was to use sole instead of tilapia but I don't think that should've been a big factor. Too me, it seemed to have too much flavor: too much salt, too much lime, too much cilantro. And the sauce...that was a lot of sauce and it was watery. Too much sauce. Anyway, it took me a long time to make this and my son hated it. Not worth figuring it out. There are so many other fish recipes that my son loves and take just a small fraction of the time.

Delectable Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
This marinade was so yummy! I will definitely be making this again. I didn't have liquid smoke or sesame seeds, so those were omitted. I substituted Sucanat for the brown sugar and honey for the molasses. Also, I didn't have any real garlic nor garlic salt so I used garlic powder in substitution. I cooked it in the oven and it was so yummy. I bet grilling would be fabulous.

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
I couldn't give this a five because I think the recipe calls for way too much liquid. I wish I had taken others' advice and cut it in half. I used a yellow onion instead of red and white wine vinegar instead of regular because that's what I had on hand. The flavors were great but I wish I didn't have to drain, therefore waste, lots of good vinegar.

Pepper Jelly Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
My son does not like jams or jellies and is picky about chicken, but he really likes this recipe! I'm so glad I dared! And how easy is it? Just remember equal parts of the three ingredients and go!

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2013
I thought these were great but my son thought they only rated a "3." But he likes canned green beans straight of the can, so what does he know? I actually ran out of sesame seeds yesterday and made these without. Still excellent!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
This was very delicious! I ended up cooking half in a square pan and half in a pie pan. The sauce was the perfect amount for my 13 pieces of chicken. I'll definitely make it again!

Quick Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
I like this a lot but my teenage son wasn't a fan. Instead of using sesame oil to cook with, I cooked it in EVOO and added a splash of sesame oil at the end. Very good dish. I especially like the toasted sesame seeds.
