Mardi Gras King Cake

This is a very good, easy to follow recipe. The only ingredient changes I made were omitting raisins (not an authentic king cake addition) and a slight reduction in the nutmeg (I used regular ground), which I am glad I did. I did bake it at a slightly lower temp (330) for 25 minutes, also. I'm a Louisiana girl, and this is the real deal.

Very Berry Muffins

This recipe is good in theory, but I found it needed some help. I do not think that 1/4c. sugar is enough. I will double that it my next attempt. I did use a sugar substitute, but it was equal measure. I also increased the cinnamon, added 1/2 tsp. of salt and 1 tsp. vanilla. It was still slightly bland. I may try adding lemon juice and zest, too.

Kentucky Biscuits

I finally found a biscuit that I can make and be proud of. I only kneaded for a minute, just until everything was combined and the dough came together. This is a great recipe, very similar to the taste and texture of KFC.

Honey-Soy Pork Chops from the Bradshaw Family

Pork Brine

I followed other reviewer's suggestions, and used about 1/3 the salt listed. I brined pork chops for 4 hours, and rinsed well, then brushed with a mixture of balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, cracked pepper and garlic powder. They were the best grilled pork chops we have ever made. Flavorful and moist.
