Keon's Slow Cooker Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
Very surprised, as many others, about how good this turned out. It doesn't taste like there's onion soup mix in it. My husband absolutely loved it and already said he wants me to make it again. I used 1/2 tsp cayenne and it was nicely spicy. I'm a little bit of a hot-spicy wimp.

Cottage Cheese Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
This is a recipe that allows you to eat onion soup mix without feeling too guilty. That said, we kind of like things like onion soup mix, so we liked this recipe, which, other than sodium content (which I'm just guessing is high), seems pretty healthy and filling. It actually did feel like meatloaf, although it was not all THAT good (sorry, but I LOVE meatloaf), but I may try some adjustments with it. Certainly worth making it again. I am eager to try it in the form of a sandwich with mayo and lettuce. My husband who is German (read: meat and potatoes!) also liked it. Our first attempt did not slice well, but I didn't tell my husband that the pile on his plate looked like cat food. It didn't taste like it, and if we can get it to slice properly: WIN. Grind the walnuts up pretty fine. I didn't mind them but noted the pieces that were larger and would have preferred the smaller pieces to add to the firmer texture of the whole loaf.

Turkish Red Lentil Soup with Mint

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2012
Absolutely delicious and bright. I added only 1/4 tsp cayenne which was perfect for my tastes, and I used two cloves of garlic. It looked so good unblended (and the photo in the recipe is unblended) that I tasted it blended and not blended. I don't see the need to blend this unless you prefer the texture, but it tasted better and had better texture to me unblended. I will make this again, so easy and delicious!

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
This soup is a revelation. I wanted to try kale, and this is an easy way to get started. Blending some of the beans gave the soup a wonderful texture; this is a trick I'll use in other soups in the future too. I read some of the reviews that said it was bland -- not so! I like things very flavorful and I thought this was fine. I did add a little lemon juice at the end, and cut the italian seasoning in half per other reviewers' recommendation. I will make this again--soon!

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Absolutely delicious coleslaw. I reduced the oil by half. Next time I will let the dressing cool before tossing it with the cabbage, though. It seems a little limp. But still delicious, best coleslaw I've tried so far!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
This is so easy and SO good. I took the advice of replacing one can of tomato soup with one can of diced tomatoes--definitely recommend this! I also used real garlic, minced, instead of powdered. I left out the black beans. Two cans of beans total suffice. I used the exact spices called for and it was perfect for us. When another reviewer said they made this twice in one week, I thought that was excessive, but now I get it. We will eat this again soon! And all winter long.

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Absolutely delicious. My skeptical husband also loved it. I did use ground turkey thigh meat. We thought the topping was a tad sweet for us but it was still good. Will do the topping with less sugar next time, and will also add an egg, it was just a tiny bit crumbly. Really great and I will be making it again soon!

Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
I never made coleslaw before. Not sure why, just not something my family ever made at home. Well, now I'm the coleslaw queen. Husband was thrilled with it. We'll be eating this all summer.

Shrimp and Sugar Snap Peas

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Fantastic! I made a slightly smaller batch, but included the entire amount of wine; added twice the amount of garlic, and crushed red pepper (having read other reviewer's suggestions about blandness). I also used dried basil instead of fresh. This was really tasty and I'm having a hard time not indulging in more!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
After reading reviews, I was concerned about turning out stuffing soup, so I had a backup back of instant stuffing mix. However, it wasn't needed. This recipe worked just fine as is. I did not have to cut back on the liquid, nor use any tricks or adjustments to try to dry the stuffing out. What I did use was very dry bread cubes. Based on another reviewer's tip, I got the bag of bread cubes from Whole Foods' bakery, and they were very dry. So perhaps some people's bread cubes were not as dry and that is what tipped the scales. Very easy, very tasty, and convenient. A keeper. Everyone at our Christmas dinner loved it.

Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
This was very good. I used ff half & half instead of cream, and 5 cloves of garlic. It was zippy and light, unlike reports from some other reviewers. I have to wonder if reports of "bland" in recipes like this are due to the parmesan cheese used. It is really worth it to use good, real parmesan cheese for recipes.

Indonesian Spiced Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
I was looking for a recipe to use jalapenos I stupidly picked up at the farmers' market... stupid because I had no idea what to do with them, they were just pretty. This recipe looked easy and I had all the ingredients. Well, it is delicious! My only change was to use only one jalapeno, since I didn't know how hot they were. Good thing, because one was way enough for us. So good and so easy. I will make this again for sure. I may add peas or something, it just seems like something else of vegetable form would be good.

Broccoli Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
As someone who always needs to "kick things up a notch" with extra seasonings of some sort, I'm so surprised to see how many people felt this needed something extra. After a little salt and pepper, it was just delicious. I wouldn't be opposed to sautéing some garlic with the chicken sometime, but that defeats the point, which is an incredibly easy and tasty dinner you can prepare in little time.

Lebanese-Style Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This delicious soup is ridiculously easy; I did not bother blending it, and we enjoyed the texture. I did not use cilantro, and it did not lack anything. I did add a tiny bit of coriander as suggested by another reviewer, to make up for the lack of cilantro. So easy, so delicious!
