Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This was OK. The flavor was good but not over the top as I was expecting from all the glowing reviews. Would make again because it's easy and not all bad.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
We really enjoyed these. Not bitter at all. We only used about a tablespoon of bacon grease so they ended up a little dry. Next time we will use more grease for consistency and flavor as the were a little bland without it! Basically next time I'll follow the recipe instead of trying to make it healthier with less grease.

Angel's Ravioli Alfredo with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This as good. We used a smaller package of cheese and spinach ravioli. Increased the parm to 1/3 cup. Also, added some sauted spinach. Will make again with these changes.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This a bit tart. But just too much of a vinegar taste for us. Also, the herbs didn't really shine through. I will make again but lower the vinegar amount as well as increase the herbs.

Glen's Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This was very good sauce however, I doubled the cheese which I think is necessary to achieve a thick rich sauce. Without the extra cheese it was a bit bland and too runny. Also the sherry adds a nice sophisticated touch! Will use as my standby recipe for cheese sauce. Very Tasty! Thanks for the recipe!

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This soup is fabulous! Aside from adding one extra tsp. of lemon juice, and cutting the salt to 3/4 tsp. instead of 1 tsp., I followed the recipe exactly! We absolutely loved this! Will definitely make again. This is a recipe I would serve to company. After looking at most of the recipes for asparagus soup on this site as well as two others on Food Network's site I chose this for ease of preparation as well as I had all the ingredients on hand. I'm glad I did! Wow! Thanks for the recipe.

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
This is really good! I used mostly veg. broth and a little chicken broth as I didn't have enough veg. Also, I used a can of diced tomatoes (drained) instead of fresh as I didn't have any on hand. I simmered it for close to an hour to get the kale soft which I prefer! Will make again and again! Healthy and tasty! Thanks for the post!

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2007
This was good mac n' cheese. Very creamy! I'm actually eating some right now (the day after) and it is still creamy. A little bland though. Next time I will use extra sharp cheddar to give it a little tang. Also, I will add a little more onion. But even without those changes, it's pretty good!

Irish Boiled Dinner (Corned Beef)

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2007
This was pretty good. I used a three lb. corned beef brisket. I also used baby white potatoes which were a little over done with 30 minutes. I will probably make this again - maybe in a couple years. Corned beef is not something we regularly eat but it was good. Thanks for the recipe. It is super easy and pretty tasty. Also, I added the seasoning that comes with the meat to the water.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
I have to fair and give this 3 stars for flavor of the marinade. It was tangy and a little sweet and overall pretty good. My only problem is that I realized I don't care for pork chops at all. I will use this on chicken though because as I said, the marinade was good.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
Changed this up a bit per other reviewer's suggestions. Added a layer of store bought guac., added some green onions to the cream cheese/ sour cream mixture as well as on top. Omitted the lettuce, tomatoes, and bell peppers because we made it to have around for a few days to snack on and diddn't think these ingredients would hold up well for maore than a day. Also, used low sodium taco seasoning. We like it alot. I made it in a casserole dish but next time I will use a 9x13 pan as the instructions state so that the layers will be thinner and easier to dip chips into. With the deep casserole dish you kind of went layer by layer when dipping intead of getting some of each ingredient. Will make this again.

Cheese Potato Puff

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
While the taste was OK, these were very dry. I might make them again but put maybe 1/3 cup more milk in before I bake them. Also, I added a clove of garlic which I think helped the flavor otherwise I think that they would be too bland for our tastes.

Beef, Burgundy Style

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
While the flavor was pretty good. We have had much better. Although, I could not find demi-glace in the market I went to so maybe that would have made a difference. Instead I used a tablespoon of "Better than boulion". I will probably make this again using the proper ingredients. Also, for the record. I did not find this too salty as other reviewers mentioned and we are pretty sensitive to salt these days since we have started reducing our sodium intake. Thanks for the recipe. we will keep looking for demi-glace I have cooked with it before and think it would make a difference.

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
I have probably only had baked beans maybe once in my life but I wanted to make them for my fiance who likes them. I started out with 2 16oz. cans of vegetarian baked beans (I have a phobia of canned meats so I didn't want pork in them, plus you add bacon). I browned the bacon in the oven and only used a teaspoon of the grease to saute the onion. I added both to the beans along with the ketchup and mustard. Then I tasted them. They were already pretty sweet and bland so I omitted the brown sugar and added 2T. of worcestershire sauce, 2T. barbeque sauce and 1 tsp. cider vinegar. My fiance thought they were worthy of 5 stars which he rarely gives. I thought they were pretty good but I don't really have much to compare them with. So, in the end after making a completely different recipe we rate these beans 5 stars.

Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2007
I'm giving this 3 stars because the flavor was good. However it was dry and not a dense as I prefer. I'll keep looking for a recipe that produces the type of zucchini bread we like. Thanks for the recipe. The flavor was good!

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
We enjoyed this. I used canned diced tomatoes that I drained as I didn't have any fresh an hand (The day after someone gave me a big basket of fresh - go figure). I used a tsp. of basil, oregano and paprika b/c others said it was bland. Also didn't add fresh garlic and only a litte onion because I was using up rice from another recipe I which already had those in it. Also, I only mixxed in about a 1/4 cup of the cheese and since I had more rice than the recipe called for it was a little dry. Next time I will add more cheese and keep the rice increased as we enjoyed it this way. Thanks for the recipe. Sorry we altered it so much but we were trying to use up leftovers. It was really good though.
