French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
SO, easy and the texture was great. Crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. The flavor is a little bland though. Next time I think I'll add melted butter instead of oil and up the salt and sugar a tiny bit. I made the dough in my bread machine, punch it down, made the balls, let rise and cooked. Thanks for the recipe.

Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
Sooo good! What a great combination of flavors. I am not a big fan of goat cheese so I subbed crumbled feta and it was wonderful. Everyone loved it. Great change of pace from the traditional tomato bruschetta that I always make. Will make again. One of my friends suggested to try it with brie. I think we'll try that next time. Thanks for the recipe.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Very good quiche. Did not add shrooms but subbed in fresh diced, drained tomatoes as we have an abundance right now. Added a clove of garlic to the onions. Also, after grating the cheddar and the parm it was a HUGE amount of cheese so just omitted the jack cheese. Came out wonderful! SOOOO good! Oh, one more thing I thought I had 1/2&1/2 but didn't so I subbed whole milk. Still rich and wonderful! Next time I will omit the bacon as it really doesn't need it in our opinion. Thanks for the recipe. If you follow the basic quiche part of the recipe you could add all sorts of things. Will try that next time to use up odds and ends in the fridge. Will make it again.

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Oh my, yummy. I did make two changes though. Instead of 2 cups water, I used 1 cup water and one cup red wine. Subbed fresh garlic for the powder. (4 cloves. Simmered it for 2 hours. I wasn't going to add the gravy packet b/c the juice was so flavorful but ended up adding it. You couldn't tell it was a packet. The juice overpowered the packet flavor which was great! Will make again! Yum! Thanks for the recipe!

Green Chili Burritos

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
These were very tasty! I looked and looked for diced tomatoes with green chilis and couldn't find them in the Italian section. In my store they were in the Mexican Section, made by Rotel. I had never used this product before and didn't realize how spicy they were when I made the sauce when I tasted it I thought the whole dish would be too spicy for our tastes. However, I filled the tortillas with the meat sauce mixture added a little cheese and baked them in the oven as otheres suggested. With the cheese and tortialls the spice was just right. Served with some sour cream and green onions on the side. Really good! Thanks for the recipe, will make again.

Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Perfect. Crispy on the bottom and chewy inside. We loved this. I didn't have dry milk so I enlisted the help of the wise minds on the Recipe Exchange... I was told that the milk makes it chewy. They suggested 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup regular milk. It worked great. Between this crust and Exquisite Pizza Sauce on this site, it was the best pizza I have ever made. Thanks for the recipe.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Exquisite is a perfect word to describe this sauce. We absolutely loved it. Didn't add the pepper flakes b/c the cayenne is just the right amount of spice for us. We don't like things spicy hot. Also, I heated it on the stove as I didn't have a long time to let it sit as many reviewers suggested. Worked great. Will use every time! Oh and I didn't measure the garlic, just squeezed 2 cloves through the press. Thanks so much for the wonderful yet simple recipe.

Saffron Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Nice subtle flavor. Not 5 stars b/c the butter called for must be a typo...8TBS? I used two and that was more than plenty. Also, used fresh parsley. Thanks for the recipe it was my first time using saffron and we enjoyed it alot.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
SO GOOD! I added almost a whole cup of chopped apple and decreased both sugars a little. Also, just sprinkled the topping on lightly. Lovely, tasty, and easy. Will make again. Thanks

Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
This was quite good. I did cut the sugar by about a quarter. Sweet but not too sweet. So simple and easy to make! Thanks for the recipe. Next time I will half the oil. A little too oily for us but still good flavor.

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Very yummy! But agree with others that the actual chicken was lacking flavor. The mushroom onion sauce was amazing though! I've made this twice. Once with white wine and dill as called for. Once with dry sherry and thyme. Really preferred the sherry and thyme. I can't see where 8oz of gruyere is needed. I used about 4 and it was still very cheesy. I will make this again but maybe marinade or season the chicken. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Tomatoes Oregano

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
Flavor was great! But the tomatoes very way too mushy cut into 1/4 inch slices and baked at 400 for 20 min as recipe directs. I will make them again but just cut in half as in the picture. I used panko crumbs b/c I was too lazy to make fresh but they worked well. Yummy flavor mushy texture except for nice crunch of the panko.

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
This just didn't work for us. Although it smelled and tasted good before I added the meat, it did not penetrate the meat at all. There was barely if any flavor after grilled. We marinated a flank steak for 10 hours which you would think would be long enough for some flavor. Maybe I'll try it on chicken and write an update b/c the marinade alone did taste good.

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
Yum! Great burger... I used 1 pound 90% lean beef and adjusted the recipe accordingly with about 2/3 of a pack of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip mix because that's what I had. It's pretty much the same as their dressing mix. Because of the 90 % lean I expected them come come out a little dry as your supposed to use 85% for a juicier burger but the were nice and moist. Lots of great flavor too. Also, as another reviewer did I used Ritz crackers b/c I didn't have any saltines. Thanks so much for the recipe! Will make again! Love it.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This was just OK in my book. It lacked flavor. Maybe needs more salt and brown sugar. The loaf did bake up nice and had a good texture. Since I used it for garlic bread it was fine but I wouldn't serve it at the table with just butter, it's just too flavorless. I would make again b/c cause it was so easy but just for garlic bread.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This had a nice flavor that wasn't too strong. I wanted a milder flavor so we wouldn't be overwhelmed with flavor since the fajitas we were having were pretty spicy. This was exactly what I was looking for. Didn't have tomatoes with chili peppers so I added 1/2 of a 4oz can chopped jalepenos which worked great. I did cut back the chili powder to 1 1/2 tsp. which was perfect and as other reviewers suggested I added a slight sprinkle of ground cumin and garlic powder. Yum! Will make agian. Thanks for the recipe.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This was very good. Seasoned well. I took the advice of other reviewers and put the veggies on top of the meat and they still weren't tender after 9 hours. The meat was perfect though. I just boiled some water and threw the veggies in and cooked 'till done. Very good and simple recipe. Will make again but as recipe directs with the veggies on the bottom. Thanks for the recipe!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
While this was good, it was not the "best" I've made or tried. I followed the recipe to a T and feel it was missing something, not sure what though. I'll keep searching for a better one. Thanks for the recipe. It was a good meal just nothing that wowed me.
