Grilled Vegetable Salad with Fresh Herb Vinaigrette

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
This was just delicious! I did mine a little differently. I just roasted my veggies in a grill pan instead of directly on the girl. Also, I only had regular balsamic but a good quality one. Other than that no changes. We loved this! Thanks for the recipe. We will make it many more times!

Mom's Incredible Spinach Gratin

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
So Good! I used fresh spinach (4 20 oz. bags). I ddeda bit more parm to the sauce nd little more Gruyere to the top (thought it needed more fat ;)). This was just absolutely fantastic! Bought it to a gathering and sat there secretly hoping there would be some left to bring home. Unfortunately there wasn't. I'll have to find a special occasion to make some more soon as the dish was emptied. Thanks so much for the recipe!

This is a great slaw. Used 1/8 cup lightly flavored olive oil, subbed 1/8 cup Agave for sugar and used half green and half red cabbage. Very good!

Quinoa, Beet, and Arugula Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Very good! We enjoyed this salad. Used Agave, about a tsp. Used regular quinoa as I didn't have red and cut the oil in half. Also, did't use any goat cheese. The flavors went very well together. Will make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
Loved this soup! I used more garlic, doubled the spices, 28 oz diced tomatoes, 1/2 veggie broth 1/2 water and subbed kale for the spinach and way more than called for. Also, added a parm-regg rind as it was simmering. Sooo, good! I know, alot of changes but I really only used the recipe as a starting point. Thanks so much!

Really good! I only used about a tsp of butter mixed with a little olive oil and omitted salt. Thanks for the recipe!

Ribollita (Reboiled Italian Cabbage Soup)

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
Sensational! I omitted a few things that I didn't have on hand, cabbage, potato and the bread.... instead of parm on top, when it was simmering I added a parm-regg rind. Took it out before serving of course... SOOO good! I can't wait to make it with the cabbage bread! Thanks for the recipe it was absolutely delicious!

Bread in a Bag

My five year old made this with a little help measuring and using the oven. Tasted pretty good. Very dense though. But he had fun and made his own bread. Neat little recipe, thanks!

The taste was pretty good. But for some reason VERY runny. Not sure why. Thanks for a simple recipe it was easy to make with my four year old. I'll keep looking for my pefect recipe though.

Perfect Pita Chips

These turned out well. However, I really don't think, at least for our tatses that the garlic salt was needed. The kosher salt and garlic powder were plenty. Thanks for the recipe.

Home Made Top Tarts!

These are so quick and easy to make. They taste great too. Actually just like store bought one's. We did not care for the frosting though. We have made them a few times and really dn't miss the frosting at all. Thanks for the recipe.

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

We though these would taste more like rice rispy treats but the just didn't. They were ok but way too sweet. Maybe a little vanilla would help. We won't make these again. Too sweet and greasy.

Watermelon and Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
This isa really good, with a few tweaks. I used 3/4 cup lemon juice which or me totaled about 5 lemons. I also only used 1/4 cup pure cane sugar. I also strained it after blending. Delicious. The lemon flavor came through well and still in the end with my tweaks it was more of a watermelon taste. Very good. Will make again.

Delicious Greens and Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2011
For such a simple recipe, this is delicious! We had some fresh turnips from the garden and as I was washing them I thought it would be nice to use the greens as well. So glad I did. My only complaint is that the vinegar was a bit much for our tastes but stil good. Would cut that in half next time. Also, I was very tempted to add garlic as other reviewers did just because the recipe looked too simple. I'm glad I resisted. This was great as is. Thanks for the recipe.

Best Spanish Rice

This was good. I only made 3 servings and that still made what I would call 5 servings. The flavor is not very strong so it is a perfect side dish for a more falvorful Mexican side dish like Enchiladas or Tacos.

Garlic Cauliflower

Easy prep for sure. I too like another reviewer left the galic in the pan and just added the butter mixture. The garlic flavor was a bit overpowering for us though. I will make this again with maybe 1/2 the garlic. Thanks for the recipe.

Mom's Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Very good. I too mixed the parm with softened butter. It made a delicious crust on the bread. Next time I will add a little garlic to the butter as well and maybe a tomato slice. Good as is though.

Flank Steak Barbecue

So good. Marinated about 30 hours just because plans shanged and we didn't cook the steak when we had planned. I did have to make one change because I didn't have green onion on hand. Instead I added minced sweet onion. We will surely make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Gold Fever Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
These were OK. Maybe it was the honey mustard I used (French's) but the mustard really was overpowering. If I made these again I would try a different brand of honey mustard and do a 1/2 1/2 ratio for hot pepper sauce and honey mustard.

Spicy Cheese on Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
This is delicious! I used 1/2 parm regg. and 1/2 sharp cheddar. I'm not a fan of cilantro so I opted for the other herbs listed. The only fresh herb I had on hand was pasley so I used a TBS of that with a 1/2 tsp each dried basil and oregano. For the bread I did not have Chabatta bread so I used 2 sliced of a nice dense farm loaf that came yesterday with our "cheese of the month club". Very delcious, filling and rich. A nice treat! Thanks for the recipe, Don.
