Missy's Candied Walnut Gorgonzola Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
This salad was very good, but I only gave it 4 stars because some of the walnuts were so hard after coating with sugar and heating. Will try a different technique next time I make this. Constant stirring of nuts in sugar???

Apple Raisin French Toast Strata

Reviewed: May 9, 2011
I made this for Mother's Day brunch and it was a big hit with everyone! After reading previous comments, I altered the recipe slightly, but think we would have enjoyed it if I had made it just as directed. I sliced the apples instead of dicing, using 2 cups instead of 1; I added raisins to the middle layers and the top and sprinkled brown sugar on top of the apples. I also served it with homemade syrup. Delicious!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
My cake was really moist and delicious. I made a couple of changes recommended by other reviewers. I replaced the yellow cake mix with Pillsbury's Moist Supreme Golden Butter Recipe mix. I accidentally made the cake with water instead of the reserved pineapple juice, but it was still very flavorful. Lastly, I added 1/2 tsp imitation coconut flavoring to the cake mix. I was very happy with the results and will make this cake again!

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
This was so good! I followed other reviewers suggestions and substituted half and half for heavy cream, but other than that, the recipe is delicious as written. Thanks for sharing, Diana!

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
Instead of heating in the oven as the directions state, I put the massed potatoes in a crock pot for 4+ hours. They were like wallpaper paste. Tasted good, but not fluffy. Will make it the way the directions state next time. Should be OK to put in a crock pot for a shorter amount of time to keep warm.

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
These croutons weren't as good as I had hoped. Maybe it was because I used wheat French bread instead of regular French bread (a mistake on my part). Will try again with the bread called for.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Family loved it. I thought it was too cheesy, therefore too rich. Will make it again, but use a little less cheese.

So good! What a great way to use Thanksgiving dinner leftovers! I used scalloped potatoes instead of mashed because that's what I had and it was delicious!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2014
It was ok. I followed the recipe except that I used 2 lbs. ground beef so I increased other ingredients accordingly. I didn't care for the cheese so I will omit it if I makes this again.

Oven-Baked Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
I have been searching for a good recipe for chicken breasts for years. Usually, the breast meat is too dry for my liking so I stick to dark meat, which is less healthy. However, I served this last night and my family loved it...and so did I! I followed the directions exactly. The buttermilk marinade made the white meat moist and the sesame seeds in the coating added a really nice flavor. This is a keeper. Thanks Anne!

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Since this was the first time I had made this recipe, I followed it exactly and the pancakes were very good. I only gave them 4 stars because I thought they were a bit too salty so next time I make them, I will do as others have mentioned and use half the salt. Just for variety I will try them with blueberries and/or vanilla extract. Oh, and using 1/3 cup batter for each pancake gave me 7 pancakes. Very good!

Hope to be able to give this a 5 star next time I make it. Chicken was a little dry. Marinate breats in buttermilk before fixing??
