About this Cook
One of my favorite memories is earning my Campfire Cooking badge with my best friend, Patty. We made dinner for my entire family (3 brother, 2 sisters, Mom and Dad). It turned out well and I enjoyed the compliments. I've been cooking and baking, from scratch and box mixes ever since.
My favorite things to cook
I'm not sure I have one favorite thing to cook. My favorite thing is trying new family recipes and baking creations for friends and family. No holiday or get together seems to be complete without my broccolicauliflower casserole and cake or bar cookies. Everyone brings dishes to gatherings and the casserole is one of the most requested.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our holiday rituals seem to be just spending time together with good food and good company. There's always plenty to eat and no one goes away hungry unless they choose to do so.
My cooking triumphs
I learned to bake cookies and "from scratch" cakes at a very young age. It was trial and error. The cookies usually turned out fantastic and my siblings loved to try what I made.
My cooking tragedies
When I was learning to bake "from scratch" cakes, I added too much salt to one cake. Man it was awful...

Grilled Chipotle Sweet Potatoes
First, I love sweet potatoes but I didn't love these sweet potatoes. I saw the recipe and had to try them. I read various "helpful" reviews but I didn't get the flavor. I think I would have done just as well to slice the sweet potatoes in wheels and grill them. That would bring out the caramelized flavor and be just as interesting. I won't try this recipe again.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake II
I've made this recipe a few times. It's easy and it's good. The one thing I did do is double the amount of peaches. I like it best that way. Like another reviewer, I use 1/2 cup of peach juice and don't add water. Every time I've taken it to a pot luck, there is nothing left and everyone wants the recipe. I love this recipe!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Really loved the roast. It was tender, juicy and cut with a fork. However, I made a mistake. I used both the dry onion soup mix and vegetable broth. I should have used one or the other. Had I added extra salt, it would have been way too salty. Next time I make this, and I absolutely WILL make it again, I'll take care to watch the salt content. I'd much rather add more to my plate than risk the dish being over salty. And I did add extra carrots and potatoes. With a 3 pound chuck roast, I added at least 6 nice size potatoes and 2 pounds of carrots. It was a terrific meal, served with nice hot biscuits.
