Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
I have made this sausage recipe numerous times, both with ground pork and ground turkey breast, and they are both delicious. I use it for sausage patties and also in lasagna.

Keni's Pepperjack Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Very good; thick; has a little kick to it, but not real hot. Spreads nicely when cold, but let it come to room temp for a dip consistency. I posted this recipe in memory of Keni.

Brownie In a Mug

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
I don't know why the recipe says to use olive oil, but I followed directions and the brownie had a strong olive oil taste, and I couldn't eat more than two bites of it. I might try it again with veg or canola oil, but can only give it 3 points using the original recipe. Perhaps some people won't be sensitive to the olive oil flavor, but to me, it doesn't "go" with chocolate flavor.

Asian Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
Family loved this. I usually use another recipe for pork tenderloin that uses a dry rub, but tried this, and everyone loved it. I used 2 One-pound tenderloins from Costco, and cooked it at 325 for an hour. Was very moist, tender and delicious. Pretty easy, too. I mixed the marinade and marinated all in a gallon zip plastic bag to cut down on washing up.

Carrot Pineapple Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
Delicious and easy. I made according to recipe, except I did not frost, I sprinkled a bit of sugar and cinnamon on the top before baking. I will definitely make again. Thanks for this recipe.

Salsa Fresca

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
A very "tried and true" salsa recipe, given to me by a friend almost 30 years ago, that is easy and has few ingredients. Try it with the least amount of hot sauce the first time you make it, you can always add more.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
I'll add my review to the other gazillion! These were fantastic! I didn't even use a mixer, just a wooden spoon to mix. If I could advise one thing, it is to not crowd them on the cookie sheet, and you will get beautiful, large, round cookies. Worth the extra time it takes. I will be using this recipe over and over. Quick, easy and delicious, and you can't ask for more than that!

Zesty Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
Not sure if I qualify to rate this recipe because I just used it as a guide. I absolutely needed to cook a couple of small pork loin that I had defrosted and never had the opportunity to cook. I was also burned out on cooking after the holidays. I found this recipe, but I didn't have root beer or barbeque sauce. I did have Coke, so I cooked it in that, thinking that I would at least get it cooked, and I could get bbq sauce at some point. However, after I had cooked it in the Coke, it turned out so tender and good that my family wanted to eat it then and there, so we did. Turned out great. Next time I will be sure to have root beer and bbq sauce on hand, though. I will definitely make this again.

New York-Style Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
Prepped and followed recipe exactly. Gigantic cracks, looks like a cross between lemon curd and rubber. It takes 15 minutes prep only if you have someone else prep all the ingredients and pan and all you have to do is walk up and mix it.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
I made these according to the recipe with no variations. They were very good, and I will definitely be making them again. I made them kind of on a whim, just to try something different. They were easy and pretty quick, actually. I do have to comment that I agree with another reviewer that despite the addition of garlic and chicken bullion to the cooking water, I didn't notice much of either flavor in the potatoes, I suppose because it was in the cooking water, not so much the finished product. When I make them next time, I think I will add a bit of garlic to the actual potatoes. All in all, a very good recipe with the flexibility that using a slow cooker can offer.

Chef John's Cheesy Crackers

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
I don't know what I did wrong, but my crackers did not turn out puffy or orange-looking like Chef John's, despite following the recipe to a "T." They were brownish and did not have much flavor. I used good quality sharp cheddar cheese and grated my own parmesan. I was going to use these on Thanksgiving, but now I'm glad I tried them out before the day. Will not make again. I see the other photos of this recipe don't look like Chef John's photo of them either.

Jello Lemon Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2013
I found this recipe a long time ago when my son was diagnosed as a Type I diabetic. It is really good. I make it in a pie pan, but you can make it in a springform pan if you like.

Roasted Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2013
I make this recipe as written, although I might occasionally put in a tiny bit more green onions, because I just guess the 1/4 cup on them. I HIGHLY recommend this recipe. It is delicious, easy, uses ingredients that are usually in the fridge, or easily gotten at the grocery, and everyone loves it. Couldn't ask for more.

No Box Mac & Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
Everyone in the family loved this. Not quite as easy as the box, but worth the little bit of effort. Very creamy, as we all like our mac & cheese! I will definitely make this again.

Patty Melts Recipe

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
These are fantastic. My tips would be to not rush, follow instructions, and use a frying pan that doesn't have real high sides. My one difficulty was in turning the sandwiches in the last step of grilling the bread; wished I had a little more room to flip the sandwich in the pan. I did use 2 average sized yellow onions, but next time I am either going to get very large onions, or use 3 average sized.

Hard Steamed Eggs

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2013
Ok, now I'm shocked. This recipe worked perfectly. It seems I am always trying different "foolproof" ways to make hard boiled eggs, and this one really worked! No green line, no partially done yolk, no beat up egg from trying to get the shell off. Just beautiful eggs! These are very fresh eggs, too. Thanks bd.weld.

Indonesian Satay

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
Family went crazy over the chicken, not so much the peanut sauce. The sauce just tasted like melted peanut butter to me; I couldn't taste anything but that. Might try some other sauce next time. On the whole, this was a big hit, and I will be making this again. It is a little work intensive first time making it, but I figure next time will be easier, and it was well worth the applause I got at dinner!

Garlicky, Spicy and Sesamey Green Beans

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
Family liked this for a change of taste. I used about 1/4 of the amount of sesame seeds in the recipe; don't dump them in all at once, sprinkle until you have what you want. I didn't have regular sesame oil, mine was chili sesame oil, so there was a little heat to them, but not too much. Seems a little work intensive first time you make it, but really is a pretty simple dish. I gave 4 stars partly because of the huge amount of sesame seeds just didn't seem right.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2013
I was very happy with how these turned out; they are easy and delicious. I followed the directions exactly. As another reviewer pointed out, the amount of crushed vanilla wafers was quite a bit more than necessary. And also next time I think I will use crushed graham crackers for the "crust." But I highly recommend this recipe!
