MORE
I am a paramedic, personal chef & caterer. I love making old family recipes from my eclectic Hawaiian and Southern heritage with a healthy twist to them. Most of my recipes can be made with local ingredients. The most important part of any recipe is making it your own and keeping it fresh. Remeber recipies are only guides! I have been going back to basics more and more. Using hand utensils and using less electric appliances. I also started making my own soaps and lotions like my grandma used to! I have recipes for these posted at www.lonestarnaturals.com
My favorite things to cook
I still love to bake desserts and experiment with time tested recipes. I love cooking for my church making casserole and good old fashioned comfort foods like slow cooker pot roast and chicken pot pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love traditional Thanksgiving! Fresh cranberry orange sauce, turkey (baked, smoked and fried), buttermilk cornbread dressing, sweet potato souffle and of course pies, pies, pies. The fall holiday season gives us an opportunity to reflect on our many Blessing and give.
My cooking triumphs
Baking biscuits and chocolate gravy with as much love as my Mamaw.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count, but with every tragedy comes triumph through learning!
