About this Cook
I have been cooking since I was twelve years old and continue my passion for cooking to this day. I remember sitting in the kitchen watching, helping, and learning from my Italian Grandmother, who was from Pescara/Abruzzo, Italy, prepare a variety of Italian dishes and learning old-style Italian cooking. I love to experiment with standard recipes and using different spices or ingredients to essentially create a new recipe. Likewise, I rarely follow a recipe to the letter having learned how to approximate ingredients or sometimes by altering ingredients to please my family's tastes; I also enjoy creating my own recipes from scratch. I love getting my grandchildren involved in cooking with me; hoping they will remember the fun times and carry-on family traditions. I have entered several cooking contests, had recipes published in local publications, and have cooked for many family events, including wedding receptions, various other types of parties, as well as fund-raising ev
My favorite things to cook
Desserts would have to be my favorite things to cook, in addition to family meals. I also love cooking real old-style Italian dishes, from meatballs and spaghetti sauce, cannolis, pizzelles, Italian holiday cookies, cheese cake and numerous other dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian dishes and desserts are among my most favorite cooking traditions, carrying on the traditions from various family favorites.
My cooking triumphs
I do not consider any of my cooking to be of a triumphant nature, but rather just having recipes turn out the way I want.
My cooking tragedies
I have yet to manage to make the perfect souffle

Incredible Edible Fried Pickles
Would not ever have thought of deep-frying pickles until my granddaughter came home one day and said she had been to the fair and tried them. I immediately looked for a recipe and found this - it is a truly incredible, delicious and tart snack or side-dish! I used wedges of dill pickles and all worked out fine. So, So, So GOOD!

Country Apple Dumplings
This is the easiest dessert to make and the most superb "Apple Dumplings I have ever had. When I was a kid my Mom would make her family's traditional recipe for apple dumplings - called "apple grunt" and it was the worst tasting stuff any kid should ever have had to eat; which almost scared me away from this recipe. My housemates and I had company for dinner and I made this recipe, with a few minor changes for dessert. It was the best darned apple dumplings my friends have ever had and I am going to send them a copy of the recipe with my edits, which I will post in my recipe box later. Bon Appetite my friends.

Chocolate Popcorn
It was easy to make, and great to eat! I used a cookie sheet to spread and coat the popcorn with the chocolate mixture, but i did not bake and it was awesome@
