Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2013
The french toast portion of the recipe is fantastic. I made as written but halved for a 8x8 dish. I think the cut cream cheese pieces are wonderful, you could reduce the amount or cut it with sugar if that's your taste but we thought the whole dish was perfect. Now the "sauce", that's basically pie filling. Very sweet and very thick. I thought about cutting out the cornstarch/down the sugar but made it as directed, I won't be making it that way again. I think that's a matter of preference though so this still gets 5 stars. Thanks for sharing :)

Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2013
Soooo good. I will use this recipe on more than just pork. The leftovers just seemed to get better. Use a great pasta sauce, I am loyal to Barilla but if you use a ho-hum sauce the recipe will suffer. Thanks so much for sharing!

Winter White Sangria

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
Many of the most positive reviews have some sort of sweetened soda subbed in for the club soda - I agree, I made as written with just club soda and it was not near sweet enough. I'm not one for super-sweet drinks but with all that citrus the extra sweetner is needed. Lemon-lime soda I added in after the fact worked fine. I liked the fruit mix and the regular brandy flavor, but this is a very customizable recipe that would probably taste great all sorts of ways. Just cut with sweet sodas and you'll be fine :) Thanks for sharing.

Sour Cream Cornbread

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
Moist, moist, moist. It must be the sour cream, this was definitely the best pan of cornbread I've ever turned out. I'm a very average baker though ;). I made exactly as directed and kept covered in the fridge, we are still enjoying pieces several days later. In the future I'll probably half the recipe as there are usually just two people eating, that's the only possible change I would make. Thanks for sharing!

Pumpkin Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
Wonderful soup recipe, I was looking for a pumpkin soup and this will be the one I used forever and ever. I liked this one because it used more pumpkin compared to similar recipes and included cumin, mmm. I made this to use up leftover chopped ham so I changed the beans to Northern, two cans for preference, and threw in at least a pound of ham. With the extra stuff I used a whole 48oz can of chicken broth, also for preference as we like brothy soups. My last change was to use a 14oz can of green chili tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, the added heat was perfect for us. I'm sure the next time I make this I'll change some more things around but the recipe itself is flawless, thanks so much for posting!

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
This sauce is FANTASTIC. I left out the sausage to make a veggie pasta side dish but otherwise made the recipe as written. The sauce is rich from all the oil but still so light and flavorful with all the veggies. The tomatoes and squash release a lot of moisture to form the sauce, I wouldn't mess with those ingredient amounts much. I will make again as written, but depending on the protein I'm serving with I might try and vary the herbs and/or and add some wine.

Wonderful baked chicken, I made just as directed and this turned out perfectly. We will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Orange, Honey and Soy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2013
Super quick and super delicious. I can tell you the sauce as written will reduce into a perfect sticky glaze, but you need to have the pan hot enough. Be advised all the honey will go from glaze to burnt very quickly, once it begins to thicken I don't take my eyes off it. For our tastes we like a bit of sesame oil and hot pepper flakes for extra flavor, but as written this is wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing!

Egyptian Feta Cheese Omelet Roll

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
The milk added in with the feta cheese worked really well for me, it did keep the omelet nice and juicy. I did not care for the rolling method of making omelets, the top and bottom rolled fine but then rolling the sides made everything pucker. For my own preference I added a fresh herb to the eggs (basil I had on hand). Thanks for sharing.

Pecan Turtle Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
The general makeup of these bars I love, but I will make some major tweaks when I make these again. The shortbread crust needs some adjustment, it has a good butter flavor but the texture is off. The caramel has too high of a butter:sugar ratio and was a little weak in flavor, I do think it needs to be doubled. For my tastes, I used bittersweet chocolate as these are super sweet to begin with. The first time I made this I used a full two cups flour, dark chocolate, and a double batch of the written caramel and if that was the recipe I would have given it four stars. Thanks for sharing.

Kahlua & Club Soda

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
Yummy! I have loved Kahlua for years but never had it with club soda, this was really nice. Kahlua is so sweet, the club soda cuts through that a little so it's very pleasant to sip on. Thanks for sharing :)

Chicken and Corn Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
Yummy chili, I'll be making it again. For my tastes I added water to thin the chili, about a salsa jar and a half. Many people prefer their chili thick like the recipe, if that bothers you just add water rather than complain about it in a review. I also add everything to the pot in the beginning and it turns out fine. Thanks very much for sharing.

Mema's Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
This was just the recipe I was looking for, nothing deep fried or too doughy. I made as directed but used leftover grilled corn cut off the cob. The oil/butter mix for frying was awesome, lots of butter flavor but the oil (I used olive) kept it from getting too dark batch after batch. I will absolutely make again, thanks for sharing!

Zippy Summer Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
Perfect, I was looking for a quick simple shrimp dish that wasn't scampi and this recipe hit the spot. I didn't find it bland at all, the spice was the main flavor and the rest complemented it really well. This had a great sauce, though I thought the shrimp were flavored enough if you didn't want to serve a saucy dish. I will be making this often, thanks so much for sharing.

Potatoes and Peppers

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
Delicious. My mom used to cook sliced potatoes on the stovetop for us, and I wanted a similar recipe with less oil, more nutrition. The directions worked perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing, this will be a definite repeat recipe :)

Easy Baked Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
A coworker told me about baked fruit with diet soda so when I suddenly needed a sugar-free fat-free dessert for someone this Thanksgiving, I gave this recipe a try. It went over very well, I used ginger ale. I did add some spices (apple pie spice and extra cinnamon and ginger). I also think two cups is a little too much liquid, I will try again with a cup and a quarter in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Due to presurgical diet restrictions I needed to serve a skinless turkey breast for Thanksgiving. Slow cooking (one hour on high, six on low in the crockpot for a 7lb bone-in breast) along with this recipe allowed us to still enjoy flavorful rich-tasting turkey. The herbs and garlic smelled wonderful while cooking and still looked pretty even after so long in the pot. Thanks for sharing this recipe, everyone enjoyed it whether they needed "diet" turkey or not!

Premier Cheesecake Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Made for Thanksgiving this year and it was devoured. I followed the recipe as directed, except I forgot to add the white morsels before I pressed the bottom crust so I sprinkled them on top before adding the cheese layer. No changes needed, for my preference I will add two cans cranberry sauce next time. I really appreciated how easily this came together and that I could make a day ahead. Thanks for sharing!

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
Delicious. I was a little skeptical these few ingredients with no extra seasoning would make such a flavorful meal but the sauce and sausage must have made it. I did use chicken sausage so I had no issues with grease. I added three peppers which was a good amount over noodles, but if I were making this for sandwhiches I think the written amount would make just enough for topping. I know I'll be making this again, thanks so much for sharing!

Best Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
This is a quick yummy recipe. The canned soup makes the sauce more like a beef gravy instead of restaurant-style beef with broccoli. One day I'd like to find an authentic recipe too but I'll keep making this one, we really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!
