No Fry Crab Rangoon

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
I thought the flavor on these was very good. I made them in an attempt to recreate the crab wontons at Pei Wei as my daughter loves them. They are VERY simple to make and they crisped up *fairly* well in the oven...I just know that the texture of the fried ones is so much better. Since this isn't something we'll make frequently, I think I'll try pan frying them in a bit of oil next time...just to see if we can get the texture a little crunchier. I also used green onion instead of regular onion. Served them with a sauce of orange marmalade, chili-garlic sauce and a splash or two of rice wine vinegar...very tasty. Thanks for a good recipe.

Spicy Orange Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
Finally, a marinade for teriyaki chicken that has a KICK and actually really tastes like something from a restaurant. I used fresh garlic and fresh ginger and used no-sugar added marmalade. I also cut down a bit on the brown sugar. I'll admit that I didn't use *quite* the full amount of garlic-chili paste, but I was close! I doubled the recipe before I even started, based on several reviews. I knew I'd want some to cook down as a glaze after I cooked the chicken. I let three chicken breasts and several pieces of tofu marinate for about 3 hours and then grilled it all. The chicken was tender and delicious and I can't wait to eat leftovers with more of the glaze. We served this with baked crab rangoon and asparagus roasted with lemon/orange pepper. My family ate brown rice with theirs. Everything was wonderful and we'll definitely have this again and again. Thank you for a wonderful recipe...one of my favorites of all I've ever tried on All Recipes!

Sweet Vanilla Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
So good!! So, so, so good. I could only eat one, but man, I wish I could have more. I frosted them with an almond buttercream and they look as great as they taste. It's nice, dense, yet still moist cake and I haven't found one I liked as much yet. I doubled the recipe and only got 21 cupcakes, but mine tend to be a bit large. I'm giving most of them away and I know the recipients will be thrilled!

Breaded, Fried, Softly Spiced Tofu

Loved it! Quick, simple and you could experiment and do just about any kind of seasoning. My daughter ate three sticks, which is a HUGE meal for her.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
I'll keep this short and sweet: YUM! ~~**~~ OK, I have to say a bit more after all. I've not had good experiences with honey mustard chicken before, but this worked beautifully. I butterflied my breasts before I coated them in the mustard and they grilled up very quickly and stayed tender throughout. Definitely will be made again...don't really need the recipe anymore. It's that simple.

Zucchini and Pecan Saute

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
All three of our family members enjoyed this saute...I used Smart Balance butter blend instead of real butter. It says two servings, but there was MORE than enough for three of us. The simple addition of the sauteed pecans was a great complement to the very mild zucchini (one of my favorite veggies ever!) and the little bit of parm, grated fresh on a microplane right over it all added saltiness and a touch of creaminess. Very very good. Thank you!

Cinnamon Griddle Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
These are simple to make. I expected more cinnamon flavor, but my son and his girlfriend said they were fantastic and that's who I made them for, so we'll go with their rating! Thanks!

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
The flavor in these was very plain and didn't remind me of the sausage I get in the store at all. I didn't even make the whole batch...ended up tossing the leftovers. Sorry, this just wasn't for us.

Panzanella Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
This was really good...I couldn't find any Italian bread, so I used rosemary bread. I figured since we eat that a lot at a fav Italian restaurant, it would make a good substitute...it was! The whole salad was quick and easy and went very well with our pesto burgers. Even my son, who wouldn't touch tomatoes growing up, enjoyed it. Thanks! We've made this a couple of times now and I've started leaving out the onion and it's even better!

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
Making falafel was SO MUCH easier than I thought it would be!! I had trouble getting my veggies to chop in my blender, so I transferred them to my mini food processor and had no problems from there. I didn't have to add a whole cup of bread crumbs, either. These were quite good, the cucumber sauce was simple and we really enjoyed our meal! Thank you...we'll definitely be having this one again.

Terry's Texas Pinto Beans

I soaked my beans overnight and used vegetable broth instead of chicken, but otherwise followed the directions. They were wonderful and my house smelled great when they were cooking!

Mama's Best Broiled Tomato Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
We *LOVED* these...my husband gave me a thumbs up and an "excellent!" on the first bite. I followed the recipe exactly, *except* that I added a very thin pan-fried chicken breast seasoned with lemon pepper, dill and garlic to each sandwich. While these would be absolutely fantabulous on their own, I just wanted the extra protein for our meal. Thank you so much for a wonderful recipe that I'll use OFTEN! ETA: I never do this, but I had leftover chicken, so we had the exact same meal two nights in a row. These are just that good.

Halibut with Zesty Peach Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
Excellent...I can't think of a thing I'd change about this recipe. I did use catfish instead of halibut, but kept everything else the same...I think the marinade would also be great for making grilled fish tacos!

Crash Hot Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
Very good, great way to use fresh herbs when they're going nuts in the garden! The best thing about them is the simplicity with a big showy payoff. I often roast potatoes, but the "crashing" gives them a unique look and crisps them wonderfully.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
I cut this recipe way down...there are just three of us and I only eat very small amounts of pasta. But, someone had Pomodoro when I was out to lunch with them recently and I thought it looked simple to recreate. I had some Byrdhouse Blistered Cherry Tomatoes left over and decided to add them (without chopping) to the sauce at the very end and it put this over the top, in my opinion. I let the sauce simmer much, much longer than the recipe suggested and it was thick and very tasty. Everyone loved it and we'll definitely have it again...it's so easy you'll memorize the recipe the first time you make it.

Byrdhouse Blistered Cherry Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Wow! Simple, delicious, gorgeous even with store-bought tomatoes. I can't wait to try this with my own cherry tomatoes. My only "issue," which wasn't really an issue at all, is that it took more than 30 seconds for my tomatoes to begin to blister...quite a bit more. I also used 1 tsp. butter and 1 tsp. olive oil! Thank you...I love these!

Dry Buttermilk Ranch Mix

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I'm so glad I finally found buttermilk powder! I probably quadrupled the dill, because I *knew* I'd want more and it's so good. I used some to make a buffalo chicken sandwich for lunch. YUM. I mixed this up in a little Mason jar so I could just shake it up after I added the ingredients. It looked so pretty before I mixed it that I'm thinking seriously about packing it up this way and giving it as gifts. Thank you, Scotdog! Love this stuff...

Smoky Swiss and Bacon Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Yum!! So delicious...when I first heard about this recipe, I didn't realize it had bacon and I prefer NOT to eat bacon, so I left it out...everything else stayed exactly the same. It's got a smooth, smoky flavor that stands up well to crackers. I imagine it being great with a cold beer while relaxing in the back yard. Try this...you'll be glad you did. Thanks, Jaxmamma.
