Parmesan-Crusted Au Gratin Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
DELICIOUS! I followed the recipe to a "T", other than 1/2ing it and making it in an 8" square pan (I also forgot to add the parsley and used 2% milk...ok, but I was CLOSE to recipe ;) ). This is rich and delightful. While I won't make it often because it's so calorie laden, it was delicious. I wasn't sure about the onions, but they really made it (be sure to use sweet onions). I think this sauce would also make an excellent white sauce for mac and cheese! THANKS for the recipe!

Amazing Marinade

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
This is a really nice marinade. It won't replace our "go to", which is the standard for earning 5 stars, but it is a solid 4 star marinade (and, who knows, it may be a 5 star in YOUR world)!. We used it on a NY Strip and 2 small filets Mr. LTH grilled. I omitted the celery salt per personal preference and realized we were out of sage, so that was left out, too. Our meat marinated about 5 hours and that was enough time to impart plenty of flavor. THANKS for the recipe!

Potato and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
This gets 5 stars from me since I don't even care for sausage and I went back for me! I prepped it a day ahead of time and kept in the frig. I forgot to include the onion/spices when I browned the sausage, so I added the onion over the sausage when assembling and mixed 1/2 the spices in the eggs and sprinkled the other 1/2 over the sausage. I left it on the counter while the oven preheated and then baked for 45 minutes. I was a little apprehensive about 2 T and 1 T of spices, but they worked! I couldn't find ground sausage, so I decased a package of Johnsonville Mild Sausage and used that. I can see this finding a place in our breakfast casserole rotations. THANKS for the recipe!

Primo Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This was a nice pasta salad. I skipped the olives and artichokes per personal preference, and the eggs because I'm lazy ;) I thought it might pack a bit more of a punch given the dressing ingredients, but nothing really made it stand out from the usual pasta salad fare. It's a nice pasta salad, for sure, but not one I can say for sure I'd make again (though it's certainly worth YOU giving it a try; it's good stuff!). THANKS for the recipe!

Tuppakaka

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
I'm in love! The only tweak I made was to add a bit of almond extract (and I do think that does make a nice added punch). This was quickly thrown together with staple pantry ingredients and WILL be my new last minute company dessert go to. It would also be a delightful sweet brunch side. I love it. THANKS for the recipe!

Peanut Butter Crunch Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
These were an easy to throw together nice tasting cookie, but not something I'd buy Crunch (R) bars again to make. However, if I had Crunch (R) bars needing using, I may make these. If I'd make these again, I'd increase the PB (double). THANKS for the recipe!

Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
These were good, but I think "brownie" threw me off a bit. I was expecting a decadent chocolate/cinnamon delight, but it's more like an oatmeal raisin (w/out the raisin) cookie bar than a brownie. Interesting change of pace, but not sure I'd make them again. THANKS for the recipe!

Summer Corn Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This was a nice different "dip" that worked well for our dairy free friends! I followed the advice of a prior reviewer and subbed a can of Rotel for the tomato/chillies with great success. THANKS for the recipe!

Garlic Cheese Logs

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
Skipped the pecans and added worchestershire sauce. Great standard cheese "ball" recipe. In fact, if I make this again, I'd prefer it shaped as a ball, rather than the loaf. THANKS for the recipe!

Mississippi Six

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This is a keeper! The name is odd and doesn't convey what guests may be eating, but it tastes great! I prepped it ahead of time and kept the "guts" in the frig until party time. Then, I added to the bowl, wrapped, and baked. Delicious! THANKS for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Egg Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This was really good! I used cooked ham in place of bacon and forewent the saute with the peppers/onion. I was not sure how this would work in the crock pot, but it worked! the texture was a bit different that you'd get in the oven, but not bad, merely different. While this isn't my *favorite* breakfast casserole, it is yummy enough that I'll make again because it's so easy to throw together the night before when we've got overnight guests. THANKS for the recipe!

Pot Pie Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
I readily admit my review may be a bit skewed because I was SO hungry when I made these. That being said, they did come together in no time (I used cream of mushroom soup in place of cream of chicken and the entire 12oz bag of frozen mixed veggies) using previously grilled chicken. These took 19 minutes for me, and they should have stayed in longer, but I couldn't wait to eat any longer. These were pretty good. Not something I'd crave or purposefully make for the two of us, but would recommend for a quick weeknight meal. However, it was really salty, and I love salt, so I'd recommend reducing the garlic salt to 1/2 tsp. THANKS for the recipe!

Smoked Sausage Frittata

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2013
This was better than I'd anticipated! I did make some tweaks, though: I halved the recipe and baked at 400 for 30 min in a glass pie pan, as we don't have an oven safe skillet. I also used fresh tomatoes in place of sun dried and added a diced jalap and some leftover corn that needed used. Fresh basil wasn't available at our grocery store, so I was forced to sub dried. I have to agree with the reviewers who said the "sausage" tasted like hot dogs, though (which kind of worked for me since I'm not a big sausage fan).

Turkey Bacon Breakfast Burrito

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
These were fine, though not something I'd probably make again. I did make some tweaks because we don't care for avocado or cilantro. Mr. LTH liked them well enough and I ate one, despite not being a fan of eggs or breakfast for dinner. The plus side to this recipe was that it made me try turkey bacon and I discovered it's not bad, not bad at all. In fact, I'd prefer these with the bacon left in strips, rather than mixed in the eggs. This would be a 4 star recipe for taste, but the recipe is so vaguely written (particularly the egg step), it earns 3 stars. THANKS for the recipe!

Chef John's Braised Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
I've never had braised cabbage, so I've nothing to compare this to, but I liked this! I served it with grilled tuna and I liked a bite of this with each bite of the tuna. Mr. LTH was not a huge fan, but I enjoyed it. THANKS for the recipe, Chef John!

Grilled Yellowfin Tuna with Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
This was a nice marinade. The basting, while adding an extra step, really did impart more flavor, so I'm glad I didn't skip it. THANKS for the recipe!

Prosciutto Potato Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
This was an ok potato dish, but not one I can see myself making again. I used fresh baby bella mushrooms because I'm not a fan of cans, but other than that followed the recipe (sans the green onion; I couldn't see buying them for such a scant amount). The end result was quite watery (the tomatoes?) and the potatoes weren't quite done, despite a very thin cut. Mr. LTH thought it was "fine", but I found myself picking out the mozzarella! THANKS for the recipe!

Bop's Broccoli Cauliflower Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2013
This is a very basic broccoli salad recipe. I ended up using prosciutto in place of bacon because I was making something for another recipe and had extra. I also like to add some sunflower seeds for even more crunch. THANKS for the recipe!

Frankly Super Supper

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2013
I freely admit I made this for the novelty. That being said, it was still just "ok", at best. It was super salty (and I LOVE salt) and kind of a PITA to assemble/keep together. Hot dogs are meant to be grilled or roasted over an open fire (though, I didn't go into this recipe w/that frame of mind). I didn't eat more than a few bites and even Mr. LTH left quite a bit behind. While it bears no impact on my rating, I also find the tagline semi-offensive (have MOM make you....). I appreciate the novel approach, but it wasn't for us. THANKS for the recipe!
