I am a self-taught cook which means sometimes I am really good at it and other times not so much. I keep trying new and healthy ways to cook vegetarian. My husband has been a vegetarian for over 30 years and I am enjoying the same healthy lifestyle.
My favorite things to cook
For many years, I did not cook very healthy. Now that I am older I am learning to cook with fresh vegetables, beans and rices. I have always loved to bake, now I try to bake healthy. It has been a learning experience but lots of fun.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up a very picky eater and did not experiment much, so now I am trying all kinds of new things. I had very little training in how to cook growing up so I am learning by doing. My cooking traditions are still a work in progress.
My cooking triumphs
I have learned that I can make almost anything I want with the right recipe and time. It may not come out right the first time, but that keeps it interesting.
My cooking tragedies
(1) trying to cook a turkey in the microwave -- what a disaster and (2) I make chicken breasts once that were so dry we gave them to our dog and she buried them (and she ate anything).
