About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything my kids like--beef stew, tacos, grilled marinated chicken are some favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking together
My cooking triumphs
A biscotti recipe from the newspaper many years ago, it's always a big hit. Also pecan tassies.
My cooking tragedies
More than once I have accidentally left the baking powder out of crumb cake--comes out like a brick! Baking powder seems to be my demon ingredient!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
This was so easy! I put the 2 pork tenderloins into the crock pot, added 1 bottle of root beer, and cooked 5 hours on medium. It came out moist, tender, and so easy to shred. I added Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce and served on toasted buns with slaw. Easy and delicious!

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
I made this recently and didn't have corn syrup so just left it out, and they turned out fine. I baked part of the dough without the chocolate chips, for plain peanut butter cookies, which were a hit, and I added Ghirardelli bittersweet chips to the rest, and those were delicious too. I would definitely make this again!

Chef John's Sausage & Shrimp Jambalaya
I made this for Fat Tuesday and it was tasty. I used leftover rice so I didn't use the chicken broth and didn't cook the rice in the dish. If I made it again, I would use some tomato sauce and/or paste to make the broth thicker, if I wasn't cooking the rice with it.
