French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
With 2 cups of flour, dough was extremely sticky. Had to add much more flour to even work with it. The final result wasn't very tasty, and we didn't care for the texture.

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
Delicious. Will now be one of my staple recipes. I am not a big hot sauce fan, so I substituted some buffalo wing sauce. I also used ketchup instead of tomato paste (never know what to do with the rest of the can in these situations). Since I only had 16 oz of turkey, I added bread crumbs to make up some of the difference. I free-formed it on aluminum foil as instructed, and it turned out perfect -- moist, held together, delicious. It really tastes just like beef meatloaf. Thank you for this winning recipe!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Made per instructions but didn't have any dry mustard so substituted Dijon. FABULOUS. I will make this again and again. Thank you for sharing!

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Terrific. Like many other reviewers, I added a little vanilla, and it turned out wonderful. I wouldn't follow the recommendations to decrease the ratio of nuts to coating because it came out way too sweet that way and pretty nauseating when you grab a handful. The recipe is really pretty delicious as is.

California Smoothie

This is nice and sweet as is. Sometimes I'll add 1/2 scoop of vanilla EAS whey protein powder to add about 12 g of protein to it. Delicious!

Veggie Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
Oh my, this was good. It kind of turned out like a cross between a pot pie or casserole and traditional lasagna. I've never tried a lasagna recipe that didn't include a tomato-based sauce, but this was awesome. I didn't have corn on hand and wasn't really wanting corn in it, so I substituted some sliced zucchini that I had. I also used plain nonfat yogurt instead of sour cream. I couldn't find the soup mix at the grocery store, so minced a garlic and added a sprinkling of herbs. Wow, it turned out wonderful. I think the only thing I'd do differently is maybe stirfry or preboil the carrots. Despite the cooking time, they came out a bit crunchy. One tip is to definitely completely thaw the broccoli and then drain it very well. I pressed it several times. If you don't, you'll probably end up with veggie lasagna soup like someone else did. This was terrific. A definite keeper!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
Finally, the answer to the bitterness. This tasted good even though I had to mix some orphan tea bags from various boxes. I think next time I'll try cutting back on the sugar, though (or use stevia for part of it). It's plenty sweet. Delicious!

Broccoli Casserole III

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This tastes buttery and leaves an oily spot on your plate. I'd suggest either doing away with the butter or drastically decreasing it. You're already getting plenty of butter flavor from the "buttery round" crackers. So either switch those crackers to ground up saltines or bread crumbs heated in a little butter or use just the buttery crackers--but not both. If you don't, this recipe comes out to 25.6 g of fat per serving--way too much for a regular recipe I'd want to use. Try using Smart Balance Spread or some other transfat-free spread instead of butter as well to decrease the fat. Going with lower fat buttery crackers wouldn't have hurt the overwhelming butter taste, either.

Lemon-Garlic Green Beans

Really good, and I don't like veggies! Great flavor. I just squeezed a little more than half of a lemon into it, not measuring, and it tasted great.

Chicken Pot Pie IV

I didn't like the cheese in this. It made the filling kind of slimy. The taste was good, but I couldn't stand the texture. I would try something else for binder and get rid of the cheese next time.
