Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
My mother brought me back a bunch of green apples from an orchard and I decided it was time for me to make a pie. I prepared my own crust and went looking for an apple pie recipe. I followed the instructions but added a few touches. First I dashed the apples with extra cinnamon and mixed until coated. Then I added a teaspoon of vanilla and 2 tablespoons Captain's Morgan Rum to the mix. It smelled similar to my banana's foster. Then I poured 2/3 of the mixture over the apples before I did the latice crust. After I did the crust I poured the rest over it. I baked it in the oven at 350 for 55 minutes. It turned out great!! Yum!!

Mike's BBQ Chili and Honey Lamb Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2013
OMG.... that pretty much sums up this dish. I was given over 20 lbs of lamb (chops, ground, leg of lamb, rack of lamb, etc.), and I had never cooked it before. I was looking for something simple to put on the grill and came across this recipe. I mixed all the ingredients together, and then placed it along with the chops in a large ziplock bag. I left it in the fridge for 4 hours and then threw it on the grill. I will admit I forgot the lemon zest, but this had to be one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted in my life. I had to pull the bones away from my husband, because he was gnawing on them. YUM.

This sauce is absolutely delicious. I used it for some pork ribs I was preparing, and it just completed the dish. I think I just cried a little. Yes it is that good....

Spy Thai Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2013
This recipe is yummy twist on Thai peanut chicken. I opted out of the wontons, and instead doubled the sauce and mixed it with angel hair pasta. I also omitted the red pepper flakes because our 14 month old would not be able to eat it if I added them. I wish I would have had cilantro on hand, but instead I added some chopped spicy basil leaves from my herb garden. Next time I'll sprinkle some more lime juice on top and add some fresh chopped cilantro. Yum! Definitely going to make this again.

This was absolutely delicious. I tossed mine with angel hair pasta. I think the fresh basil is the key. I love fresh basil, and it really gave it that extra kick of flavor. Yum!

Classic Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
This is super delicious but very time consuming. Just a heads up to anyone going to make it. My oven runs hot, so even at 250 it was burning even though I was stirring it every 5 minutes. So after 30 minutes I just took it out and let it cool. Still, we love it! I'm saving it for our Halloween party this weekend. It's sure to be a hit.

Spicy Jalapeno Whole Wheat Pasta Toss

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
I thought this was a really good dish! I didn't have whole wheat pasta, so I just used regular pasta. I also omitted the chick peas because I just didn't have them. Overall a delicious dish that I will make again! Yum!!

Banana Nut Bread by PAM®

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2014
I am really surprised by this recipe. I've never made banana bread with honey and egg beaters before. It came out great! The only thing I changed was I added chocolate chips instead of the nuts. My family just don't eat nuts in their bread. Also, I used Pam coconut oil spray to spray down the pans. I love it for baking! I was really surprised when I found it at the store. I suggest trying it.

Delicious!! I made this in the slow cooker and it came out so tender and yummy!! The only thing different I did was omit the habañero pepper. Those are way too spicy for us. Perfect combo of sweet and spice. Thank you for the new recipe!!

Key Lime Cake II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2014
I wad desperately looking for lime recipes because my neighbor brought me a huge bag of limes. I didn't have cream for a pie, so I'm glad I found this. I'll admit, I modified the recipe a bit due to limited ingredients. I only had yellow cake and vanilla pudding, so I added more fresh lime juice. I used about 1/2 cup. I also added coconut extract to both the cake and the glaze. Omg it was amazing. I would take a picture, but it's already gone! I made a bunt cake out of it, and it was so moist. Thanks so much for the yummy recipe!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
Absolutely delicious cake! I made it into a Black Forest Cake by adding a large can of cherry pie filling in the center of my 2 layers. I also topped it off by making the fudge icing and dropping a few cherries on top for decoration. I did take the advice of another on here and stuck it in the freezer for 10 minutes so it could handle better. It did not fall apart but the center fell a little. It was nothing the fudge topping could not cover though. The party I made it for raved over it. I will most definitely make this again.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
My sister had given me a large overstuffed gallon size bag of spinach (they get it in bulk) and I had forgotten about it in my fridge for about a week. I decided I would rather cook something with it and this recipe kept calling to me, so I decided to try it. I found it rather addicting and I ate 2 slices right out of the oven. However, I did make a few changes based upon my likes and others reviews. I added a ton of garlic to the onions as I was cooking it. I also added a can of sliced mushrooms and wilted my spinach in the mixture (instead of in a seperate pot). I also salted and peppered my mixture in the pan on top of the salt for the recipe. I also only added 1/3 cup butter instead of half a cup (only because I already had a stick in use). Other than that, it was simple and delicious!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
The smell coming from the kitchen was so delicious when we got home and the soup was just as good. We of course were all about quick so we used tortilla chips instead of making our own and we only had green enchilada sauce so we used that instead of the red. Not only did I add fresh chopped garlic and onion, but I love garlic and onion so I added some garlic and onion powder also. Yummy!!

Great idea! Kids loved it for their Halloween party. Yummy too! I should add it is easier to use the sheets instead of the rolls. Just use a pizza cutter to slice it into strips.

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
I added extra garlic to mine. I also lightly rinsed my beans and added salted chicken broth instead of the wine. For my rice, I used Goya yellow rice. It was a simple meal and great addition to our Mexican night at home.
