Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
This is a great beef stew recipe (as written). It's easy, doesn't make a lot of dishes, makes the house smell amazing, and my family loves it! I contemplated adding a thing or two the second time I made it, but I decided it was unnecessary. The flavors are great just using the base recipe. And really, why make more work for yourself by adding steps that aren't needed. Try this recipe as-is the first time you make it! You'll save yourself some work and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I do have to say that it seems strange to me that people would give a recipe a 5 star rating, but they changed it so much that it's not the same recipe any more. It helps to rate the recipe as it's written. Not to mention that you should at least try it the way it's written before making all kinds of changes. As someone who's pretty new to the site, it makes it harder to find good recipes. Just my two cents.

Mashed Potato Topped Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
This was my first attempt at a green bean casserole. I have to say, this recipe was incredibly easy and pretty much fool-proof. No one had seen a green bean casserole topped with mashed potatoes before, but my whole family thought it was a nice touch. The only thing I added to the recipe was just a little bit of garlic powder in the soup (added in with the pepper), and a little bit more just mixed into the potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the instant potatoes. Also, the potatoes soaked up a bit of the soup in the casserole, which added to their flavor. I was skeptical about making a green bean casserole for Christmas, but I'm glad I chose this one. It was a hit! Overall, I give this recipe 4 stars for being quick, easy, and tasty, but it could have used maybe a few more seasonings just to make the flavors pop a bit more. I think the garlic was a nice addition.

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2013
Excellent recipe! My husband is not usually a fan of pork chops, but he loved these. I did note that a thinner pork chop was better. The first time I made these, I had very thick pork chops and they took forever to cook and it made the stuffing kind of mushy. However, with the thinner pork chops, the stuffing was crisp, but the meat was tender and juicy.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
Excellent! These were so delicious! I think you can easily get away with using less butter, especially if you're going to use a sugar/splenda blend (in which case I would suggest halving the butter). As it was, I used a sugar/splenda blend, so there was about half of the quantity of sugar, but I kept the butter the same, so in the end there was just a pool of melted butter that the dumplings were practically floating in. It didn't affect their deliciousness in the slightest, but I will definitely reduce the amount of butter used next time. And there WILL be a next time!

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
This was excellent! I read a lot of the reviews which said to use only one can of black beans, so when I started this up, I opened only one can but had the second on hand just in case. After adding the first can of beans, I could see why some people were saying that adding the second would be too much. BUT! I had faith in the recipe and decided to add the second can anyway. Definitely worth it! The beans and quinoa balanced out perfectly. My husband wouldn't stop raving about it! I will definitely be making this recipe again. And again. And again.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2013
As others have said, definitely needs some seasoning to bring out the flavor, and/or additional vegetables. I tried pulling the chicken apart when I put the dumplings in (about 30 minutes before the end), but I think that was a mistake. However, it was still incredibly delicious. This one is a keeper!

Grands!® Easy Taco Melts

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2013
Sloppy like you wouldn't believe, but absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that the grands biscuits do NOT like to be flattened. That part is the hardest of the whole recipe and takes a good while to get them all situated. But once they're done, they're incredibly tasty!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2013
I love this recipe! Everyone is always impressed and comes back for seconds (sometimes thirds). I know it sounds strange to use sour cream instead of ricotta cheese, but before you tweak this recipe, I urge you to give it a try as it stands. You won't be disappointed. I've made this dish following the recipe exactly, but I've also made it with ground turkey, vegetarian ground "beef," as well as a combination of ground turkey and ground beef. It comes out excellent every single time.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
Fast, easy, delicious. My husband loves it. I've been using olive oil that's already infused with garlic to either save a step or make it extra garlic-y.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
Delicious! I sometimes add a small can of corn instead of frozen peas, and it's just as good. Personally I don't find it dry as long as you don't overcook it. This recipe is my go-to for tuna casserole.
