About this Cook
I cook because I love to create. I find it to be very soothing and rewarding. My mother was my greatest influence, but because of my love of experimentation I think I am a better cook than she is now. :)

Anything healthy. I love to try new recipes and love the challenge of altering high caloriefat recipes to something more healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Swedish Christmas cookies. These were baked by my mother and now by me.
My cooking triumphs
I have had few failures when cooking. Every new recipe is a triumph when it turns our terrific.
My cooking tragedies
The first cake I made by myself was a bit of a disaster. I think I was 11 or 12. I didn't let it cool in the pans after baking and frosted it while it was still warm. Needless to say, it sort of fell apart. Refusing to let that stop me, I held the cake together with half a box of toothpicks. My father ate half the cake.. he was a good Dad. Didn't complain once about the toothpicks. :)

Spaghetti with Buffalo and Tomato and Basil Sauce
Nice taste, but a tad on the sweet side for me. I used Wild Boar - couldn't find buffalo and had boar in freezer. Quick meal and easy to make

Chicken Butternut Squash Posole
As the recipe is written, it is a nice but rather bland soup. I used a roasted garlic salsa that I really like but it didn't add nearly enough spice to the soup. I have never had a posole that didn't have some cumin, chili.. etc.. and I really felt it needed that. I did like the butternut in this. I did not add the optional cream. After I jazzed this up with some spices, I really did enjoy this. so do make this.. but have your spices ready

Butternut Squash Patties
Yummy.. my only change was to use a spicy salt. I love butternut squash, but I like it best with a little heat to offset the sweet
