Moist and Savory Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
This stuffing was a little blah compared to what we are used to.. I had to add sage, sausage, apple, and craisins to really enjoy it. It's a good starter recipe tho.

Angel Biscuits II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
My family loved these biscuits. I am know for my hockey puc biscuits and am a seasoned cook...but still am never able to make good fluffy biscuits, no matter what recipe I try. My son said "I hope u saved the recipe, because these are the best biscuits you have ever made...pleae don't make any other kind" With a compliment like that, you know I will never make any others. I did use 3 cups of white whole wheat flour and 2 cups of AP flour instead of all white flour. I also used butter instead of shortening. It worked great.

No-Fuss Cinnamon Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
This cheesecake was delicious and so easy. I only had 1 tube of crescent dough so I divided it in 1/2 and pressed 1/2 of it into a 9" springform pan. I traced the pan on parchment paper and pressed the other 1/2 of the dough out into a circle shape. After making the filling and pouring it onto the bottom dough, I just flipped the parchment paper over to add the top crust. It worked perfectly. It was a big hit at my Halloween party. I will be making this recipe again.

Black Walnut Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
I know the pic I added to this recipe doesn't really depict the cookie as recipe is written. I was having a Halloween party and waanted to make witch finger cookies. I had black walnuts I neeed to use and knew the nuts in them would make it look like warts on the fingers..LOL I think they are delicious and have been wanting to make these again after trying them a cpl yrs ago...and this was my opportunity. Next time I make them, I will make them in balls as the recipe dictates...and there will be a next time because I just love black walnuts.

Company Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
I served these potatoes at a Halloween party. I called them funeral potatoes, since that is what a friend called the same type of casserole she brought to my dads funeral...and the name was appropriat for my party. They were very good, but I felt 2 cans of processed soup was unnecessary. I used one and added more milk and extra seasoning. I also eliminated the dill and added chives.

Creepy Mini Pizzas

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2012
My son and grandson had fun making these with me. They really tasted good too. I used a garlic cream sauce on some and pizza sauce on others. I also made them a little healthier by using whole wheat flour in the dough.

BBQ Chicken Crescents

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
My grandson and I made these together. Since it's close to Halloween, we stretched the dough out, filled with bbq chicken, closed the sides, and formed them into witches hats. my gs decorated them with olives. They were very good except I thought the dough was a little sweet for this type recipe. I don't remember crescent dough being sweet before.

Slow Cooker Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
I used the seasonings in this recipe and thought the flavor was delicious. I did use a ham shank instead of diced ham, and kale instead of bell pepper and added carrots too, since thats what I had on hand. I the veg up in the FP and added the last 2 hrs of 7 hrs in the slow cooker. My son came home to these and hamemade bread and butter..a comfort meal made in heaven...yummm

Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
My mac n cheese lover in our house is my 11 yo grandson. He liked this for the most part, but not the red pepper. Since he doesn't like panko, he was glad I used my whole wheat bread crumbs mixed with a little butter and bacon fat..I didn't want to waste it since I sauteed the bacon anyway..hehe..the cheese flavor was very good in this dish.

Basmati and Snow Pea Stir Fry with Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
My family really liked this recip...but not as much as when I make stir fry with chiclen and shrimp...but they did eat it and liked it. I'm not sure if it was bbcuz of the meatballs or my homemade teriyaki sauce...maybe both...I always keep some made in the freezer so this was an easy recipe to make.

Skillet Zucchini Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
We really liked this cornbread. It was a great side with our tortellini soup. I have never seen self rising cornmeal in California, so used regular and added baking powder and soda. I added a bitmore sugar and green onions were all I had, so used those instead. They worked and made the flavor yummy. I will make this again.

Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
I have a bad cold, and decided to make some soup to help me feel better...even tho it was 95 degrees today.LOL I only had one pkg of Al Fresco sausage and it was the tomato & basil meatballs. I used those in this soup and it was a very good sub. I cut them up, browned them first, set aside and made the soup. I used kale instead of spinach, since that is what I had. My family all loved it..with the exception of my grandson..He liked it all but the kale....which he kept calling "that seaweed stuff" hahaha. I served it with Skillet Zucchini Cornbread from AR. That was very good too.

Easy Weeknight Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
For economic reasons I used boneless chuck steak sliced thin and browned. Added onions, garlic and I added sliced portabello mushrooms and cooked for aa few minutes. I added water, covered, and simmered until almost tender (1hr)and most of liquid was evaporated. Then I added the portabello mushroom sauce and simmered for another 20 min until thickened. Added the sour cream and served over egg noodles. We all loved the flavor of this entree.
