I currently work from home and enjoy coming up with quick and easy new meals that are healthy and delicious! I love making my own food and knowing exactly what I put in it. I have two wonderful huskies and a fiance who I think the world of!
My favorite things to cook
I love trying to cook things I've never made before. I like experimenting with flavors and almost never follow a recipe to the T. I avoid pre-packaged mixes or foods whenever possible and prefer to make everything from scratch. My motto is "If it comes from a box, then its probably not real food". I love Indian food, dishes with chicken and fruit, herb salads, chai lattes and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother was Russian and spent her life in the kitchen. She made the world's greatest chicken soup, as well as many other phenomenal recipes.
My father is a man of spice, at times too much spice, but at least he's adventurous!
Most of my family survives on restaurants to sustain them. Needless to say, cooking was never a priority, unless it was for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
One of the best, if not the best, recipes I found by accident and make almost on a weekly basis: Ginger Pear Chicken
My cooking tragedies
Chilean Sea Bass. I wanted to get it nice and golden, but accidentally added too much oil to cook in. It was SOOO greasy, I had to pitch it. I'm not great at fish, but I don't mind, since my favorite fish is sashimi and requires no cooking. :-)
