About this Cook
Seattle food lover, writer, event planner and mom. Passionate about parties, cooking and building community.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook soup! Throw a bunch of of ingredients in a big pot, simmer all day while enjoying the scents coming from the kitchen and then, like magic, you have a whole meal in a bowl!
My favorite family cooking traditions
It gives me great pleasure to explore family recipes from my ancestors - generally Scandinavian and German. I always make Norwegian cookies at Christmas time and love to celebrate Oktoberfest each year with a German feast!
My cooking triumphs
I feel quite accomplished when I am able to create a new recipe for something that could otherwise be purchased prepared - I make homemade breadcrumbs, croutons and many of my own condiments such as tartar sauce, salad dressing, cocktail sauce and even taught myself to make homemade mayo!
My cooking tragedies
I am not the best when it comes to sweets - especially candy making. I have tried time and again to make homemade caramel, but it just seems to elude me!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
LOVED these! Peanut Butter Blossoms are my favorite cookies of all time but these just took it up a notch! The addition of chocolate to the dough and using dark chocolate kisses made the traditional blossoms even better! They are so easy to make and the Reynolds Parchment helps with simple removal and clean-up! Will definitely be making these again!

Chocolate Mint Crinkle Cookies
These cookies were very good and such a simple recipe to make. They look so beautiful when baked and were a perfect selection for our Christmas Cookie Exchange! The mint flavor is a bit strong for me so I would probably cut the mint down by half next time I make them. The Reynolds Parchment makes for very easy removal from the baking sheet.

Easy Pepperoni Bread
I loved this bread! I browned some Johnsonville sweet Italian sausage and used it instead of the pepperoni and it was awesome! I followed the rest of the recipe as written except that I used the canned pizza dough as others suggested. I did not find it dry at all - but this could have to do with the extra fat that is added with the sausage. Crunchy crust outside and soft and cheesy on the inside. And oh-so flavorful! What a great snack for a crowd - this was fantastic football watching fare but would also be perfect for a potluck. YUM!
