About this Cook
My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have two beautiful children, a daughter (16) and a son (15). I grew up in Wisconsin, the youngest of 7 children. I work full-time in the printing industry, from the comforts of my home. My husband is from Italy, from a town called Aprilia, which is about 30 minutes from Rome. I learned a lot about Italian cooking from his mother. She came to stay with us for 7 months when each of our children were born. My husband and I both enjoy cooking, and we prepare meals at home 6-7 nights a week. One of us usually runs the kids to their activities, and the other stays home and cooks. We make a great team! My favorite things to cook
I have a major sweet tooth and love to bake! Muffins, breads, cookies, cakes. My husband bakes homemade bread a couple of times a week. We eat a LOT of pasta, and enjoy making fresh pasta for Sunday dinner as a special treat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was a young girl, my job was to do most of the candy and cookie making around the holidays. I still make the same things I made when I was a little girl, and am trying to hand down these traditions to my children as well. Every Thanksgiving, I make a big traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Both of our families live far away, so we always invite our friends or neighbors over to share this meal.
My cooking triumphs
Too many to count. Probably making yeast breads. After a couple of failures, I finally got it right.

Chicken Parmesan
Really great Chicken Parmesan! I made this when we had our friends over for dinner (there were 12 of us all together), and it was great because I breaded and fried the chicken ahead of time, then put them on a sheet pan and finished baking in the oven while we had our cocktails and appetizers, and while the pasta cooked. Also works great breading the chicken breasts and then freezing them for those busy weeknights when you're not sure what to make for dinner.

Snickerdoodle Blondies
These are yummy! I left out the ginger in the topping, because I was all out. Can't wait to have one for breakfast with a cup of coffee.

Pan-Roasted Chicken with Vegetables and Herbs
Definitely needs more seasoning (salt, pepper, some fresh garlic or onion powder - something!) Still pretty good though, just a little bland. I used skin-on, bone-in thighs, and otherwise followed the recipe to a "T". True comfort food.
