My boyfriend and I moved in together in 2007. I was an 18 year old beginning cook, with very little in the way of experience in the kitchen. I didn’t know how to make hard boiled eggs or even a baked potato. I discovered allrecipes.com and a love for cooking. A few years later I discovered the… MORE

About this Cook
I'm 23, and I'm a 6th year senior at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. I have a bachelors degree in Philosophy and I'm finishing up my second bachelors degree in Law, Societies, and Justice. I started cooking my sophomore year of college and haven't been able to stop since, I love it!
My favorite things to cook
I loooove making appetizers and having friends over. I'm always making new appetizers, dips, snacks, etc. and I love pairing new things with wine to see what unexpected combinations work well together. I also love making my moms famous chili, which is so involved it takes two days to make. Luckily it makes enough to last a week! I'm famous for my authentic mexican dishes, many of which are from my Mexican-born boyfriend's family recipes. See my recipe box for a few of them. I also like to experiment with marinades for grilled chicken, salmon, steak, vegetables, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking cookies with my mom and me accidentally spilling flower all over the kitchen. It seems to happen every time I bake.
My cooking triumphs
I've cooked for all of my friends and family and have never had a bad review.
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 12 I was home alone and bored and I decided to make an angel food cake. Don't know what I did wrong, but I cooked it for about 3 hours and the middle was still not cooked through.

Blueberry Smoothie
This was too bland for my taste.

Chicken Pasta Salad I
This was pretty good for something quick, but I think it would be better refrigerated for a while. I had to double the amount of dressing because it seemed too dry.

Chicken and Rice Skillet with Broccoli
This was ok, but it was really bland. I used fresh garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper and it was still bland.
