Honey Ginger Carrots

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2014
Pretty good! I used baby carrots, and steamed them in a steamer basket, then stirred in the sauce. I did not use lemon juice, and probably used about a quarter teaspoon of ground ginger. I made them for Thanksgiving this year (actually typing this review while we do the dishes!)

Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
This was really good! Not incredible, but great for an easy dinner. The only change I made was to use gluten-free rotini.

Oven Roasted Parmesan Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
I made some changes, but not many - I used a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper, and sliced the potatoes into coins instead of halving (our potatoes were a little too big to just halve). Also, I used white pepper instead of black. These were DELICIOUS - crispy and creamy, just the recipe says! We will definitely be making these again.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
Oh. My. Goodness. These are DELICIOUS! I could probably eat a whole batch myself. I made a few changes out of necessity - I accidentally bought a 2.5oz package of chocolate pudding mix, so I added 5tsp cocoa powder (until it looked the right color), and used the entire bag of peanut butter chips. I'm making these for my boss who just had surgery, and I don't think they'll last the day!

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
YUMMMMM. Just the right amount of spice, perfectly balanced. My husband made his "yum" face for about 15 minutes after he first tasted it. This is definitely a keeper!

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
These were just ok. I thought they weren't peanut butter-y enough, and a little too sweet. They are very fluffy, which is nice, but I thought they were bland. My husband said they were "all right," which is his way of saying "I'll eat them, but don't make them again."

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
This was good! I thought there was a TINY bit too much vanilla, but my husband liked it. We'll definitely make it again, just with a little less vanilla. They were definitely fluffy - I've never thought to use flour before!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2013
This is GREAT!! I actually used an 8-oz package of cream cheese (one of those little tubs), not realizing I was using way too much. I also added sliced portobello mushrooms that I sauteed in a little butter & olive oil before starting the rest of the sauce, left sit in a bowl, and sprinkled on top of the chicken breasts before pouring the sauce over. I also added some minced garlic. I baked it the full hour, but after about a half hour the smell was driving my husband and I crazy. Definitely will be making again!

Belle's Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
Ok, I messed these up. I read through the recipe but when I was mixing the dough, I added the egg yolk. I finished them anyway, and they have a fantastic texture - they're not too doughy or too airy. But, they are super-duper bland, and except for messing up with the egg, I followed the recipe exactly. I'm going to make them again, because I really liked this recipe. I'll edit my review then, to make sure that it was me who made them bland!

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
This was fantastic! I made it MONTHS ago for Christmas, and never got around to writing a review. Even my uncle who isn't crazy about chocolate ate a huge piece and took some home. I will definitely be making this again.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
I didn't like these at all, and I usually like kale. I read all the reviews and followed others' advice, but I just didn't like the flavor. My husband ate them, but told me he wouldn't ask for them again.

Balsamic Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2013
My husband and I both love this. We've used it twice, both on pork chops. The only change I made was to use fat free half-and-half instead of cream, and we used chopped shallot instead of onion (we halve the recipe and 1/8 of an onion is just annoying, so we use half of a shallot). Can't wait to try this with pasta and chicken!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
Delicious! The only change I made was the use 1 t of vanilla and 1 t of almond extract... I do that with nearly everything I bake. I left them on the counter overnight (not on purpose, I fell asleep reading), and they were still deliciously soft this morning. Next time I might add just a little bit more cocoa, the cookie part could have had a little stronger chocolate flavor for me. Will definitely make again!

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
Delicious! I used garlic like other reviewers, and used more crab meat than it called for (we like lots of crab). Just so you know, this makes more than 2 dozen... I ended up using two packages of baby bellas, plus a leftover portabello cap from Christmas. Will make again!

Annex Theater Champagne Cocktail

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
This was my first time with bitters, and I didn't really like it. It might have been the champagne we used, but my husband and I won't try this again.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
I made a few changes, so am rating 4 stars in relation to this as a base. I used rice vinegar instead of cider, used low sodium soy sauce (it's what we had in the cupboard), skipped the white sugar, and added a clove of garlic. Yummy! I used the sauce with linguine and cooked chicken, broccoli, carrots and sugar snap peas, so I ended up doubling the sauce.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
This was yummy! Not the best pulled pork EVER, but good enough that we enjoyed it. We used Dominion root beer (it's made with honey), and sweet baby ray's sweet and spicy barbeque sauce. I did season the pork before I cooked it, with seasoned salt and a fancy seasoning mix from penzey's spices. Would make again!

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
I made this for my parents while they were visiting me in college. My father is Byzantine Catholic and doesn't eat meat on Fridays, ever, so I was unable to do anything involving bacon. However, it was pretty darn delicious otherwise, and I plan to make it again. I used baby clams, but would like to try to use chopped larger clams next time. We all really liked it. I think next time I'm going to try to thicken it up just a little bit more... I used fat-free half-and-half, which can sometimes not thicken as well as regular.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
This was interesting, but good. I'm not a huge fan of balsamic, so it was a bit much for me. My husband loves balsamic, and loved this. He'd say five stars, I'd say three, so we're going with four. EDIT: We made this a second time, using fresh tomatoes (3 medium) and fresh basil - DEFINITELY made a difference. I'd still say 4 for the original recipe, but with our changes, a 5-star. We served it with brown rice pasta (my husband has to be gluten-free) and green beans. We're making it again tonight!
