About this Cook
Married, no kids but have three cats and a husband. Work outside the home and need easy recipes that my husband would be willing to follow.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook chili from scratch (my mom's recipe), cakes, bread, stir fry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas Eve, my husband and I have snacks; just like we did when we were kids. His parents went from house to house in their neighborhood in the 50s and 60s; my parents had a quiet evening with us kids, going out to look at Christmas lights. Barbecuing with my husband. He is getting braver about cooking items he wouldn't normally cook on a grill. We sit out on our woodland area (where we have our bbq, sip wine and smell the wonderful aromas emanating from our bbq.
My cooking triumphs
I made a Devil's food cake from scratch, including the frosting for my best friend's birthday -- I didn't know that her mother always made her the same cake. Her mom had just died, so it was quite a tear-jerking moment. I made my first cheesecake about two years ago. I was very nervous but everyone loved it and it became the favorite birthday treat at the office. Everyone wanted my cheesecake!
My cooking tragedies
I have added too much salt, sugar, baking soda and powder, flour, water, eggs, oil, any flavoring you can think of, at least a million times in my life. The print just keeps getting smaller and my eyes see Tbl when it is supposed to be tsp. Argh!

Easy Chinese Chicken Salad
I doubled the dressing as Brenda suggested. I took the salad to a potluck and it must have been a hit because the bowl was half empty. Very good.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy
This was SUPER EASY! And so yummy. I wouldn't use the whole cup of chopped almonds next time, too many fell off. Plus, spreading the chocolate chips with a plastic bag over your hand was way too hot. I would use a spatula next time. Otherwise, this was an awesome recipe and got a lot of thumbs up from those who I allowed to have a taste. I will have to make two batches -- one to give away and one just for me!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
I thought the root beer was kind of odd, but the pork was so beautifully tender and delicious! Great recipe!
