I am retired from teaching, have a husband, 3 grown children, and 4 adorable grandchildren. I don't do as much actual cooking now that we are "empty nesters", but I do enjoy cooking for holiday get togethers.
My favorite things to cook
Probably my favorite thing to cook would be single crust pies and casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for holiday family dinners with my adult children. They are all such good cooks and always teach me a thing or two.
My cooking triumphs
I was proud of the recipe book I created of my Aunt Helen Shade's favorite recipes. Together with her husband, Paul, she owned and operated a once famous local restaurant in Canal Winchester named aptly, Shade's Restaurant.

Mincemeat Cookies II
I am just finishing the last mincemeat cookie. Yum!!! These cookies are now my absolute new favorite cookie. They are moist and completely delicious! After they had cooled I iced them with a confectionary sugar icing and that only added to the flavor. What I like best is that the mincemeat is subtle and doesn't overpower the cookie. These will be my new holiday cookie for certain. Thanks for submitting the recipe.

Taco Pie
This was so delicious and easy. I appreciate a recipe and other reviews that allow me to tweek it to suit our tastes. My personal modifications were similiar to others except I used yogurt instead of the sour cream mixed with the seasoned hamburger mixture. That gave it a slightly sweet taste, but I balanced it with some green chilies from a jar and a squeeze of Mexican seasoning in the tube. I topped that with 4 slices of cheddar cheese,taco sauce, and some crumbled taco chips as per recipe,then baked about 18 minutes. Thanks to the submitter for a really good and easy Mexican meal!

I made this recipe last night but must have done something wrong since it tasted too heavy of avocados. Will try next time skipping the onion and subbing a little salsa for the tomatoes.
