I've noticed AR doesn't have a section for paleoists so, I plan to separate, modify and purge my recipe box accordingly.  I need to rid my kitchen of all the existing flours and sugars, and slowly ween my husband off grain.  Although, I don't think I'll ever be successful in that.  At least I… MORE

About this Cook
I'm complicated, impulsive, and have an eclectic interest in everything from books to music.
My favorite things to cook
fav things to EAT = everything. fav things to cook... what anyone else loves to eat :) Seriously, I like it all except mushrooms. Recently, I've become interested in the Paleo lifestyle of eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
slow cooked sauerkraut and polish sausage in beer, golumpkis in pork salt, potato, onion, & Cheese stuffed shells, creamed cucumbers with onions... awe, makes me miss home. Guess I'll have to make variations to this now.
My cooking triumphs
Fish. Definitly would have to be fish cooking :) Next, Roots. I can make them taste amazing every time; mashed, roasted or skillet fried. Now, on to Paleo -- Here I come :)
My cooking tragedies
I've yet to properly cook a turkey! That damned bird... why can't I just do it like everyone else!? I've tried every method except frying... which I refuse to do.

Cilantro-Lime Dressing
if you love lime and cilantro - this is IT. Yum, yum, yum! My mods were no jalapeno, only because I didn't have it. 1 heaping tsp. minced garlic, 2 tsp. minced ginger, 1/2 cup lime juice, keep honey ration the same. 1/3 cup packed cilantro. Result = perfect amount of sweet to citrus balance while not over powering the cilantro.

Cincinnati Chili I
LUV it. Nothing bad to say. This is an amazing recipe. Tru cincinnati chili... no, but the flavor is amazing and pretty darned close. Also, unless you are looking for a heart attack by cooking with the fat that comes with tru cincinnati - this is a great tasting recipe.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad
This dressing is a hit every time I make it. No need for modifications except I haven't yet determined what the need is for the poppy seeds as you can't taste them, LOL! I think i might experiment with a little sesame seed oil next time for added sesame flavor.
