About this Cook
I started doing a lot of the cooking in our family after my wife developed health problems, but have since found out that I enjoy cooking very much! My imagination and willingness to experiment have produced some very good (but also some very bad) recipes! I love the Allrecipes site because I can find a recipe for just about anything, and the comments from the other members are extremely helpful.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy grilling out (typical man, right?) and have grilled everything from scrambled eggs to pizza...but my favorite thing to cook is whatever my family is hungry for on that particular night. If I can please this crew, I know I am doing a pretty good job!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My own family growing up really had no traditions; I was an only child and both of my parents worked, so our meals were usually something that my mother put in a crock pot that morning. With my own family, I have established a tradition of grilling out on Sundays rain or shine, during the warmer months, and a tradition of having a special meal of their choice on birthdays for family members.
My cooking triumphs
This year I cooked Christmas dinner for my family for the first time. For the last 28 years my inlaws have hosted Christmas dinner for the family, but due to health reasons were unable to do so this year. I baked a turkey for the first time, ( a little dry, but not too terrible) and made all the sides. My kids handled the desserts and breads. Overall the dinner was a success, and I have to give Allrecipes.com most of the credit!

Oven Ribs
Awesome recipe! Bought a rack of ribs for the grill but the weather turned out bad. This recipe saved the weekend! The only thing I did different was marinate the ribs in soy sauce and rice vinegar for 4 hours before cooking. After cooking for an hour and a half the meat was falling off the bones!

Bread and Celery Stuffing
I followed the recipe almost exactly, and it turned out perefect! I dried my bread overnight, however, and sliced it into cubes the next morning, and let them air dry until I started the recipe in the afternoon. I think that made the difference as far as being too moist. I look forward to experimenting with this recipe in the future. Thanks for a great recipe!!

Wow! Sweet and Sour Sauce
Wow is right! No more store bought sweet-n-sour sauce for us! This was so good I made another batch so it would be ready for our next stir-fry night! Thanks for a great recipe!
