Southwestern Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
This is phenomenal!! I used tri-color quinoa since that's what I had, but everything else remained as written. This is fresh, healthy, and a great way to get lots of vegetables with a great punch of flavor. We ate this as a main dish and will have it often. Thanks for a great recipe!

Banana Blueberry Muffins with Lavender

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
These are INCREDIBLE. They made my house smell like lavender while they were baking! I'll be hinting that I want for these for my Mother's Day breakfast........The muffin cups will be almost full, but don't let that scare you--the recipe is perfect, instructions are perfect, just make sure you like lavender if you make these. The taste is not overpowering, but you can tell that it's there (and I love it!). Thank you for sharing such a delightful recipe!!

Dark Chocolate Cherry Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
This is amazing! Be sure to allow the milk mixture to boil long enough, or your fudge won't set correctly. Then stir as hard as you can to incorporate the chocolate, marshmallows and cherries. Delicious, I wish I'd made more!

Sweet and Salty Toll House® Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
Incredible! These are now superior to regular chocolate chip cookies in our house due to the salty additions. My husband wouldn't let me share these with my coworkers................they're THAT good!

White Chip Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
Absolutely wonderful. I made these for my coworkers and they went nuts for them. My husband has requested a lemon version next, and I could imagine a citrus version with orange, lemon, and lime zest!

Healthier Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
I love this recipe. I'm always looking for ways to make recipes better for us, and this fit the bill (and I didn't have to change it!). The corn kernels add a nice bite of sweetness instead of sugar, but if you're used to full butter, super sweet cornbread, you might want to have some honey butter ready. My kids loved it as-is, and it wasn't dry at all. This would be perfect to top chili. I'll definitely make it again!

Quick and Flavorful Vegetables

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
The package states to add 1 or 2 packets per pound of vegetables, and sadly this recipe seems to have missed some editing. I used a broccoli, cauliflower, and baby carrot blend, steamed them, and added one packet of vegetable flavor boost. Any more would have been overly salty. We did enjoy the flavor it added to our veggies, and they needed nothing else.

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
Fantastic! I served this instead of turkey for Thanksgiving, but it would be wonderful for Christmas. Plus, it's so easy! The glaze turns into a sweet and savory sauce and I basted the pork every thirty minutes to ensure good coverage. My family loved it and this will go in my favorites file. YUM!

Chipotle Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
The flavor is exactly as I had hoped--spicy, smoky, savory, and cheesy! I made exactly as written and it was perfect for me, but would be a bit too spicy for my kids. I think next time, I'll try using all regularmonterey jack with the chipotle. I topped mine with smoked paprika for color, and it was delicious! Sprinkling with cheese would have made it too rich, I think.

Praline-Pumpkin Mousse Cornucopias

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
These are delicious, and do make a beautifully presented dessert! I found it easier to wrap the strips one at a time instead of pinching two together like the directions state. The mousse is heavenly! You could serve it alone in a parfait glass with a drizzle of caramel and chopped pecans, but the puffed pastry cornucopia is what makes this a special dessert. Fun for kids (older ones can help make this in the kitchen) and fun for adults as well. I could see this bringing families together and settling feuds in time for the holidays! Haha, really, it's fabulous, thanks for sharing such a neat idea!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
I don't normally use my slow cooker, but with cooler weather finally here in the South, pot roast sounded good. I did sear the roast on all sides before putting it in the Crock Pot, and it came out very tender. My 10yr old daughter loved it, my husband said it reminded him of a childhood meal his mom used to make, and I thought it was a bit too salty. I would make it again, but would look into making my own onion soup mix so I could control the salt content. If I was rating this on ease, it would definitely get 5 stars.

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2012
Easy and quick, I chopped 1 1/2 Granny Smith apples and put them for a whirl in my food processor. I didn't peel them and I really liked how the green color showed throughout the pancakes. My family enjoyed them, and next time I will double the amount of cinnamon, and maybe even add some pecans or walnuts.

Tuna Salad Crescents

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2012
Quick, easy, and good! The sweet pickle relish goes very well with the slight sweetness of the crescent rolls. I made a very simple tuna salad with mayo, diced celery, grainy dijon, and pepper. These are great for lunch!

Spooky Homemade Marshmallows

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2012
I can't believe I just made marshmallows. These are sweet billowy clouds of puffy goodness! Unlike any store-bought marshmallow I've ever had, these tasted delicate and were softer. My kids think I'm a superstar! Be sure to grease the pan very well or the mixture will stick--this makes it more difficult to remove from the pan when they're dry enough. Since I made bones for Halloween, I dipped my cutter into the powdered sugar/Argo cornstarch mixture before making each cut, pressed down hard, and wiggled slightly to ensure it went all the way through. These are truly a delight--yumm!!!

Bacon and Caramelized Onion Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
WOW are these indulgent! This was my first time making a 'rolled' yeast roll, and they turned out great. I think my roll before I cut the slices was a bit too long, so I would recommend making your dough rectangle on the conservative side so your rolls won't seem too big for the muffin tin once it's filled. But boy, these were GOOD! My husband ate 2 and I served them with vegetarian soup since these have lots of cheesy bacon goodness. I'd love to make them again if I have the time. THANKS for a wonderful recipe!

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
We really liked these! I scrambled the eggs with salt, pepper, and a little half and half until just done and they were wonderful, and the cheese inside made everything yummy and melted. They hold together well in a portable little package, so I could see my daughter grabbing one of these before heading out the door to school if she's in a rush. I had a little trouble making them into a crescent shape, but was able to get them rolled without losing the filling--just stuff the sides back in if needed.
